Who's waited the longest?

Not sure I understand how that could be. The pre-order program officially started Jan 15th. Nine months would be Oct 15th unless my math is failing me.

I guess I really lucked out.. I waited only 6 months and 10 days.. I live in Atlanta, Ga.. but ordered in the town where my parents live in Shreveport, LA.. Got mine on Aug. 29th.. IT is worth the wait!!

I ordered my Z in Virginia on Feb 6 and I am still waiting. Has anyone waited longer than that?

ZISME has written a few posts in this forum trying to explain why, that I will try to summarize:
1 - All of the orders made between 1/15 and 4/15 were batched together as one order to the plant, and the plant decided the sequence of cars to be built
2 - Larger volume dealers got more cars, faster, probably because of efficiencies in the order fulfillment process. It's easier to build and transport 5 cars to one dealer than one car each to 5 dealers.

Also I was only the 9th person to order at my dealer, and they aren't the largest Nissan dealer in town, so I'm not sure if the dealer size mattered.
I think it was complete luck of the draw... I guess I might as well stop buying lottery tickets since it seems I've already used up all my luck

BTW, I today, after just 1 month driving I passed the 1200 mile mark so I can finally open her up... All I have to say is W
W!

I must be the luckiest guy here, since I ordered on 4/20/02 and got my car a mere 4 months and 1 week later (8/28). Since my VIN is ~347 (when I saw it I SO wanted #350), I am not sure if your 1/15-4/15 dates are accurate.

Seriously, after watching the development of the Z, I put down a deposit in January 2001. After looking at the design specs I knew that this was the car for me and backed it up with a cool grand! The dealer that I am working with is the largest Nissan dealer in the Denver, CO area.
Unfortunately, I'm still waiting, but a VIN has been assigned to my Redline Track 6sp. Expected delivery date is 10/15/02.
While I understand that the orders could not be made prior to 1/15/02, is there anyone else who put signed a contract and put down a deposit BEFORE me!?

My official pre-order was faxed to the Nissan Regional office January 15th 2002 and my car arrived at the dealerhsip September 19th.
Long wait but well worth it!
I ordered Jan 24. and still waiting. I have my order and VIN #. My salesman showed me his inventory list for their next delivery scheduled for Oct 2. So hopefully it arrives on schedule if not early.
Ordered January 24th. Just got my VIN last week. Both my dealer and ZISME confirmed an 8/14 delivery date. I had to buy a plane ticket to fly to the midwest to get my car, so they better be right!
Mine took so long because my dealer skipped his local orders in front of mine even though they ordered months after me.
