its either your intake or the fuel pump. i think its probably the intake although the sound associated with that doesnt occur at idle and only happens when your getting on the throttle.

Thank god...I thought I was going nuts...I think it's in the audio system...just put it in accessory mode and wait 1-3 seconds. There it goes! Also, the stereo amplifiers/autopilot were items in service bulletins for the 2003 (I have a 2004 roadster/automatic). Dealer said they have no idea what the hissing it (?). My next step is to drop by a auto stereo place and have them give a listen...sounds like a speaker is live, or it's the mike on the autopilot that won't shut off, which could explain why the mid-range tones on the Bose are sooooobad! If you find out, please post!!!

I hear it all the time including when I just turn key to accessory...starts about 1-3 seconds later. Dealer has no idea (?) ...found an old service bulletin hidden for the 2003's...there was problem with the Bose system and the autopilot...the mike was always live and that was the noise and it also screwed up the audio system. Nissan claims that problem doesn't apply to the 2004's but I am wondering......

I have a 04 enthusiast. No Bose.

I heard the sound when I got my car, it disappeared after 5000 miles.
Haven't noticed it since. 10K miles now.
