Tough call.
You say you ordered the nav. Does the car that you are being offered have it? I got it on my CS/charcoal touring, wondering if it would be worth the $. It definately is, IMHO. Actually, it's the cat's pajamas--an amazing system.
Also, to a large degree, the MT really makes the car, though I would understand if you REALLY need the AT for traffic in LA. On the other hand, if it's not a daily driver...

AudioPat,
If the available Z doesn't have nav, I would definitely wait. (personal opinion).
Also, the packets, etc., you have recieved will not match the available Z. They match your pre-order.
I say, wait if you want the options you originally selected. Remember this point... after a few weeks or month, and you have your pre-order Z, all this will be forgotten. If you get the available one and it isn't what you wanted, you will kick yourself for not waiting. Wait.
Just some thoughts,
Todd

Pat;
I've been up in Santa Rosa getting my car 3M'd by Krinkov. Everything to say has been said. Except this....
Isn't this a great board? It's kept me on track a time or two...
And, you are welcome to come to the Bay and drive my car anytime you get stir crazy.
Follow your heart.

I'm probably too late to post on this Pat, but I think you should wait for what you TRULY want. I'm telling you....after all this time, 3 weeks won't make a difference....you'll have your 350Z forever, won't you?

Hi Pat:
I just got back from a short trip so didn't get to respond as soon as I would have liked.
Thought I would give you additional confidence in the AT. We love our AT. The Tiptronic option is great. My wife likes the car with AT so much, coupled with the CS and Charcoal leather, that I have a hard time to find it in my garage. Seems she is always driving it.
Best of success in whatever you choose...

What's the skinny on this? Any idea what the improvements were? Being one of the lucky ones who saw my order delayed forever, maybe there's a silver lining to this after all.

Pat,
If you do not get the car on Monday, you can see my Touring-AT-Redline w/Charcoal some time next week once we set up a meet time. I also have the nav. so you can see that. What dealer has the car?

Pat,
If it were my choice, I would go with the MT, simply because I prefer them over automatics (even automanuals, like the BMW's SMG system - I just like the extra pedals and real gearshift - and I'm not even a very good manual driver).
Since you say you will be using the car primarily for fun and not commuting, maybe the manual won't be so bad.
Other than that, I think your original choice and this new opportunity are about the same. The only thing that would affect my decision is the transmission.
-D'oh!

Pat,
Sorry for the late response. The Silverstone/Orange is a nice combo. I saw a couple at the Chicago Z event a few weeks ago. Personally, I think the 6MT is the way to go. I know you drove Jay Leno's 6MT Z. Have you driven an AT yet?
I say go for it!

Haven't driven the AT yet but I trust the opinion of those like Rocketscientist that say they love it. Thanks Elzie for that note. I didn't sleep much last night. This is such a tuff decision. I wish there was a way to find out if my original preorder was on a ship being held up at the port (West Coast ports are all closed) or if at least it has been off loaded from a ship. (Not that it would do much good with the current situation). Thanks again for all the imput.

It took me a whole day of driving to get use to not shifting I kinda felt like I was forgetting something. But after a couple days I got real spoiled to the AT5.
It's quite peppy in both auto and manual mode.
Of course for the full sports car experience you gotta have a 6sp.
But I must confess the AT5 is sweet and it's still a sports car. Heck on a new ferrari you pay 10K extra for auto shift mode.

AP,
I'm chiming in a little late and can't really add anymore to what's already been said but, stay with your original order. I'm sorta in the same boat and I figure three more weeks aint gonna hurt when compared to the 7 months (soon to be 8 months) that i've been waiting.
Plus, I've seen that LA traffic... WOW! Even on weekends... WOW!

Because you are mostly going to drive the car only for fun, I would definitely get the manual. But then again, I am not the one getting the car, you are. It seems to me that since you have doubts, you obviously have a preference for the auto over the manual (no accounting for taste
). I think you should get the car you want no matter when it comes in. From your doubts, I think that car must be the one you originally ordered.

You could try to wait it out for a week or so, but I have to agree with your wife on the orange interior. I've seen it and don't really care for it.
Do you want what you ordered or are you willing to settle?

For me the MT is the only way to go. If I had to get an slush box, I'd make it worth my while and get a LS430, but for a sports car the MT.
Also we're not talking about some impossible clunky gated shifter like the old ferraris had. We're talking about a state of the art 6 speed MT, one of the best in the industry by all accounts.
