350Z vs S2000
I always wanted a s2000 growing up, think I was 13 or 14 when they came out and loved them...was test driving a couple this year looking at getting one and I loved the way it drove like a little go kart. Buuuuut then I randomly found a good deal on a Z, test drove it and never looked back. I never see an S and wish I got it...I've actually had two S owners tell me that they wished they had gotten the Z lol
i was gonna get an s2k, but an 07 350z, 6 speed came in on a trade and I took it out for the weekend and I was sold.
5 days later I got my 04.
I love the S2Ks, and no i dont think they're a chick car only.
But they're not a daily driver, too much of a track car.
Z on the other hand, great for daily even though the ride is a little rough, its still way better than the S2k.

I can't believe this thread is still in existence! I looked up these forums in February of 2007 before I bought my 2007 enthusiast. I had a friend who drove an 06 S2k and I was interested in that car as well. Along with the 2007 STi. After reading how cool most of the owners were here and realizing I wanted a 2 door coupe I went with the Z and never regretted it.
Highly considered a 350Z, test drove at least ten. Test drove 1 s2000.........and thats the one I bought. Happy with my choice ever since. Especially with the SOS stage 2 kit. 391whp.
I think the 350Z world offers much better styling modifications and I would probably buy a new 370z if I sold my car, but we are comparing 350z vs S2000. To me, it just feels like there are a ton more 350's out there then S2000's. I like to have something that isnt quite as common. I still like the 350z, I just felt it didnt give me that overall "fun sport car" satisfaction. Dont get me wrong, the 350z is still a fun car to drive, but the S2000 supercedes it with flying colors when comparing the fun sport car feel.
I also like how the S2000 is holding its value compared to the 350z. Hence the reason why the 350 can be had dirt cheap, because there are so many out there. The S2000 can be had for pretty cheap now too, a good used one, but if you compare same year, condition, milage, etc between the two, the S2000 will be priced higher.
All in all, two fun sports cars - both with different positives and negatives.

I considered S2000 when the fast and the furious first came out! LOL. I test drove one, and really loved it. But when I tested a 350Z coupe, then everything switch over. But i am still a honda by heart regardless, owned a Si back in the days! The only thing I dislike about a s2000 is the soft top, and my head hits the roof! LOL. But regardless, they are two different cars. And they both have each cons and pro!
I considered the S2000. The biggest reason I went with the 350Z was that I am 6'4" and could not fit comfortably in the S2000. I have never driven one, but I think that it would be more fun, though certainly less practical.
Not that i own the Z, but my original intention was to buy an s2000. Reliability is outstanding, good looks, fun to drive and a convertible.
Lack of..space everywhere, small truck, no torque and not great performance gains swayed me away. My father owns a 00' ap1 as his DD and it's fun, but not something i could do everyday being 6,2.

I considered an s2k... until I drove a Z. The S2000 was fun, and I liked the convertible, but I already dealt with soft top security issues with a Wrangler, so I didn't want to go back to that. I love having torque all over the place. A friend of mine has an S2k, and we'll trade every now and then for a day. I like the S, but I love my Z.
Wow, this thread is old.
I highly considered an s2000 before purchasing my Z. I was looking at both cars and found a great deal on a used yellow s2000 with low miles. My wife and I went to the dealer to give it a closer look and possible test drive in person. She was soo turned off by it saying such things as, "That's a girl car" and "We'll look like Ken and Barbie in that thing." She did everything but drag me away from that dealership.
That same night we went to the local Nissan dealer to look at a couple last year model Z's. We looked at, test drove, and bought one that same night. To sum up, my wife had a lot of say-so in what I bought. However, now when I see s2k's I'm glad I was pushed in the direction of my Z. I believe it to be a much better car.

I also almost purhcased a 2001 S2000 black with red interior for 10K right before i got the Z.. But the guy sold it before i could even try to buy it.. They are very similar but the Z seems a tad faster up hill and out of corners. Now with that said the right driver in a s2000 can make a mediocre driver in a Z think his car is slow.
I love the S2K, but I really hate going through bumps and unforgiving roads because you would feel it with the roof. I love my 350z>S2K because it just feels more sporty and more comfortable. I would not say S2K is a girlie car because all of them are 6spd the same can't be said of our 350z. Honda could of really done wonders if they put more colors like Nissan in their Z cars, basically yellow, white, black, blue and red for all years. Unlike Nissan which has 1 year color every year since the new Z came out in model year '03. If I don't miss my S2K, so I guess 350Z was a great choice.
Its like me bragging making more money than a kid in high school, its a hollow victory.
Just my
I like the Honda S2000 its a awesome car but very loud even when driving slow the engine just wants to scream all the time. I lost the chance of buying a 04 Honda S2000 that had 10,000 miles on it to some guy who lived out of state he got the car for $16,000. I have nothing bad to say about this car it was a blast to drive.
Personally I'm not a Honda person and I probably will never be but, the S2000 has its good points like its crazy rev limit and light weight handling, but the thing that stands out to me the most was the price value. Its just too expensive for how little it offers but to each there own.
It crossed my mind but I was pretty set on a Z. It was really between the Z and the STi. I wanted something for the track/autox that I could drive daily. I'd like to test drive an S2000 because they seem like neat lightweight cars. Convertibles do nothing for me, I'm all for a coupe. Both my cars are 2 doors, the day will come when a 4 door will be in the family :'(
The S2000's are quick and hard to catch in autox depending on if the guy behind the wheel can steer, but on the track any potential regrets disappear everytime I have to swerve around a road block, or I mean S2000 sorry!
