Default noticed something in Z ad (car & driver)

on page 110 of the latest issue of car and driver, there is a black and white ad for the Z. i noticed that the fuel door has a poor fit. it does not fit flush with the curvature of the body. is this what people have been complaining about? it seems rather noticeable to me and i would not be pleased with nissan if this is the fit and finish of the production model.

I do not have my car yet so I am not sure what the cause maybe but is there someting in the way like a rubber bummper or just does the door not sit flush b/c of bad design or a build error? If it is a rubber bumper or a bad hinge that can be modified but if it is a bad design that is not a good thing.... Just in gereral wondering wht is up with it, do the newer arivals have the same problem?

ive been able to get my gas cap cover flush by jiggling the gas cap wire that the gas cap hangs from. if you play with it you can position it so it doesnt lay up against the gas cap lid when you close the lid and you wont get that unflush look.

LOL, pretty funny, I was just going to post that too. You can't get that little hang cord twisted around or else the fuel door won't sit flush.

Default nothing wrong with it in the pic..

I looked and looked at that pic, and my conclusion is that there is nothing really wrong with the cap in that pic.

I dont doubt people have had problems with this issue on their Z's, but in the picture, you have to understand that the crease of the cap is VERY contoured, so it will look bigger in one area over another,, so I think its just an optical illusion due to the curvature of the surface..

Just my .02

Default Noticed

I haven't had to fill up yet but I'm not crazy hearing about gas caps that seem not to fit. In a pressurized fuel sysytem, you can get poor drivability in your car. This may need to be on our lists of things to be fixed.

As said above...it's the wire thingy that is attached!

Abyss took me for a ride and showed me how people are messing it up- he shut it and it wasn't flush at all.

Then, he twisted the wire thing so is lays flat inside, shut it, and it was a perfect fit.

Beware of user error!

I can't believe the door can be off just because the cap wire is not folded just right. What is the door made out of, aluminum foil?

Boomer - it's not the gas cap; it's the filler DOOR

RobJames - it's made of plastic
