Default Canada info?

Just got a call from dealer with VIN # and he said that the ship had just left port. How long would it take for the ship to arrive at port in vancouver and then to Toronto? I had an August production that was pushed forward to September, so I'm a little bit skeptical with what the dealer says (2 wks to Vancouver). If anyone who've received their z can shed some lights I'd appreciated.

ordered in Feb., black performance with burnt orange leather

2 weeks to Vancouver, 1 week dawdling in port, 1 week on the train... you will get your Z in a month.

That means you have a month to buy winter tires, or you can't drive it until spring. The Z comes with summer tires, which makes you look like a figure skater if you drive on them in ice and snow.

I'd give it two to three weeks to get to Vancouver. Then at least two weeks from Vancouver to TO. Your dealer should be able to tell you when it reaches port, keep asking. Then you know its just a train ride away

thanks for the quick responses. 1 month is quite a long wait but I hope I will still be able to drive in Nov and dec due to the very warm weather that we're having in toronto (but you know, with my luck I'll probably get mine on a freak snowstorm day!)

It takes 3 weeks to get to Vancouver and about 10 days to get to Toronto. There is a ship leaving every two weeks. My car is on a ship that is schduled to arrive a week Friday. Its possible your car is o this ship, but the it wouldnt have "just left port". Looks like it will be in Vancouver around the 25th.

at least 2 weeks at sea, and about 2 weeks in transit

I got my black/black Performance yesterday
The car is fantastic, and I'm really happy with my choice of colour.
I'll post some pics and comments later, but in the intrim:

Pros:
- it looks and drives impressively well
- I obviously didn't take it over 4000 rpms, but even at lower rpms, it still kicks some serious a$$ (did easily ~140 on 401)
- the handling is incredibly good, very similar to older porsche 911s: very responsive and precise
- the interior is actually not that bad (definite improvements in the fit and finish over the pre-production models)
- seats are great and very comfy (they hug your body)
- clutch is smooth (just perfect)
- breaks are really good

Cons:
- BOSE sucks
- I expected it to have more torque in the lower end
- manual transmission is a bit rough (not as good as a bimmer)
- Nissan paint looks cheap and is not of great quality
- very limited seat height adjustment
- blindspot galore

Here is a little info for you. Transit time at sea to Vancouver is 12 days. VCR. to TO. is 8 to 10 days via CN rail (10 if shipped on a Friday) I'm in Quebec City and I also got my VIN yesterday. No doubt on the same ship as your's. Assuming the ship sailed Monday 9/30, you should expect to have your car the week of 10/21/2002. I'm expecting mine the following week (CN to MTL. then trucked to QC.)

BTW I ordered a performance model super black with burnt orange and NAV system on July 31 with September production.

Ok, I am an importer and I have all the shipping schedules.
Yokohama to Vancouver is about a 20 day ride. My car left on the 19th or 20th and is scheduled to arrive next week.
Your cars left on September 30th and will arrive in Vancouver around the 17th. The Ship that your car is on is called the United Spirit.
You will see your car the first week of November.
I wont even see mine until around the 21st of October.

Pooch, its my understanding that in Canada the VIN's aren't received until the car arrives in port here in Vancouver. You're car might already by on the ground here if that's the case.

I think the VINs actually become available once the car leaves the factory.

Yup.
Dealers now get them when they are loaded on the ship with a status of "at sea".

Just wonder what everyone's paying for insurance. I got a quick quote from Bel air ins. for 2200/year, but they'll only sell it with a $3000 deductible!!(they said that they wouldn't cover this type of car with the standard 500 deductible). I'm 33 and have a pretty good record (okay, I had a minor speeding violation, no point, in the past 3 years). It would be interesting and helpful to find out what everyone's quote is prior to finalizing the insurance stuff.

$1,050 per year for 33 year old clean record in Calgary, $500 deductible. No commute.

My policy is ~ $1900 (tax incl.) from Meloche. However, I got a group insurance discount. I'm 29 with a clean record.

Just got back from the dealer. My ship is at sea, near Vanc. He said I would get it in 2 - 3 weeks. He gave me the VIN JNIAZ34EI3T004503. Now that I look at his writing I can't tell if the I's are 1's or vice versa. Anyone know the format.

So far Avenue Nissan has received 2 cars. They are getting 3 in Oct, 1 in Nov and 1 in Dec. They are disappointed.

A guy bought one today and is getting April delivery.

I'm on the same ship as you.
Should be arriving in Vancouver next week so your dealer is spot on with 2-3 weeks. Wish I could have had it for the long weekend...oh well.

Thumbs up

Cuki570:

This is what I know about my car. It’s on the m/s World Spirit which sailed on 9/26 from Yokohama.

The ship makes 4 other stops in Japan and then heads directly to Vancouver. This particular voyage is scheduled to arrive on 10/9.

The ships car companies use offer roll on roll off service which have less delays because there is no container handling or de-stuffing like regular freight.

Because of the thanksgiving holiday on the 14th I might get screwed by one day but I expect to be able to trace it with CN Rail as of the 15th.

As a result. I’m sure I’ll have my car the 28th or the 29th at the latest.

If you’re on the same ship and if your dealer is not a loser, I’d bet you’ll have your car around 10/23. If you send me your VIN I’ll let you know when it appears on CN.

P.S. Belkmike your VIN still hasn’t show up on CN.

hey POOCH15,
How can you find out which ship the car is in? 9/30 was the date that my dealer called to inform me that the ship had left port of japan(would that be the same ship?). I hope you're right because all this waiting is making me unproductive at work.

PS my dealer is a slug! But the salesman offers to drive the car from pound to dealership(to speed up the delivery). I don't think so!! I SAW HOW THAT BOY DRIVES, SCARE THE **** OUT OF ME!!

So wait a second. I thought that my car was on the World Spirit, but you just said that it left on the 26th. I only have access to when the ships arrive in Vancouver and not when they left. My dealer states that "As of September 20th, your car is at sea". So does that mean that my car was on the Hual Traveller? If so, souldnt my car have arrived at port about a week ago, meaning that I could have it later this week? Please let me know your thoughts on this. I'm getting really excited, but dont want to get too excited two weeks too early .
Thanks
