Got the car last night and WOW, its great. Just looks so substantial. Maybe because I have been looking at pictures of it for 8 months and now its finally here. Thanks for your help. The dealer actually did not get the car until Tuesday morning. I guess it just sat at the rail yard from Thursday until then. The car did not come with an owners manual. Dealer said they were backordered and he would send me one. They installed the spoiler and it looks great. He was confused as to why the spoiler would cost so much until he saw that it comes with stronger hatch struts that need to be swapped with the standard ones. Strange that a little spoiler would require an upgrade in the struts. Anyway, its here and the drive to wrk this morning was great. Oh, no rattles and the gas cap is flush. Lots of tranny noise, but I think its normal. Bose Stereo is good when functioning properly, but I see what everyone is complaining about. Orange peel does not seem significant, but I havent gotten to really look at it in good lighting yet (picked it up at night and drove to work early this morning in the dark) Looks like they are starting to weed out some of the initial problems.
Thanks again POOCH15.

So there you have it. Car looks AWESOME!!! She's all dressed up with both spoilers and the splash guards...

Thanks Pooch for checking again. I would be expecting it to get on that train any day now, but alas, the wait continues... almost 10 months now.
Question for you here (think I may post it elsewhere too):
I plan on driving this car all year. I don't expect to drive it every day, but most days, when the snow is not freshly piled up, the roads aren't icy, and it is for the most part dry. We have the stock 245/45 and 225/45 summer 18 tires included. I am considering my options:
1) Keep these tires on for now (may limit my driving days more) - does anyone have any info on low temperature performance for summer tires?
2) Buy winter tires (18s - probably Blizzaks, or maybe Pirellis) and switch back and forth - get new rims for these too? If so, maybe 17s?
3) Buy an all-season tire such as the Michelin Pilot Sports - the closest I have seen so far is 225/40 and 245/40 18s. Little lower profile - not quite the same size but close.
Any ideas, anyone? Damn not living in California - of course had I been there, I would have had an S2000 for over a year already.

Just got off the phone with my insurance agent. She said that it will certainly be in the area of $2200-2300 for insurance on the new Z.
Her reasons were that it is a new car and ICBC generally does that with new vehicles coming out since they do not know how much it is going to cost to fix them and whatnot. So, obviously if they're going to err, they're going to do it on the high side so they pocket the $$.
As for the quote on the G35C. Maybe that one's low because its a version of an already existing vehicle?
ICBC's heads are up their a$$es though. My agent was saying pretty much the same thing. We really need to get rid of the monopoly that ICBC has here in BC.

Don't we wish! I'm not holding my breath, that's for sure. That's the same question I asked my agent and she just laughed at me.
We gotta face the reality that we're dealing with a monopoly here in BC and ICBC can pretty much do whatever they want with rates. In my eyes, its pretty criminal.

to pay that much for insurance!. No wonder ICBC makes so much money every year. The spoiler situation is still under consideration with me. Not sure how I will proceed yet. All the BC boys should get together and form a buying group. See if we can work a group deal for spoilers.
If anyone one is interested, pls let me know. Has anyone seen the Car and Driver Test drive video?
The car sure sounds great I also noticed that there is a fix for the BOSE problem being reported in other threads. I wonder if this will be included in upcoming production.
I still have not heard when my car will be built. No VIN yet and January is all they can tell me at this point. Guess I'd better start asking for that VIN.

Hey guys, newbie here, first off wanna say hello to all the ZED (not ZEE) drivers
Quick question: How long does it take from the time you order to the date of arrival? (in Toronto) Obviously I'm asking only for an approximation.
The reason I ask is, I got a buddy who's getting a Chrome Silver Performance, in December! That sucks. He's gonna keep her caged for 4 months. I dont want to get mine before spring - at least not till April.
Reasons being:
a) dont have to buy a winter beater for another year
b) I get to break her in just before summer.
c) Get to choose between coupe or convertible.
So if I want the car in April, when should I order? Thanks in advance.

Wotnot - If you're expecting your car in Jan, don't worry too much about getting that VIN just yet. I'm October production and am just getting close to my VIN right now. They'll have a VIN for you when the car's on the boat from Japan.
About the stereo note, Ballz just got his car recently and he said his stereo sounds great. Ballz, what do ya think now that you've had her for a couple of weeks?

I got the car two days ago and can not use the radio. I know it will be great when the fix comes out because at times it does sound fantastic...but then the bass all of the sudden turns loud and muffles out the rest of the music. Then you turn the bass all the way down and it sounds great, until a bit later when the bass totally dials out and you need to raise it again. On CD's it is a bit better, but to sit there and adjust the bass every few minutes isnt right. I'm just loving the engine and tranny sounds right now and could care less about the stereo. Definately needs that new amp fix.
Well, its good news to hear that it looks like we'll be getting something soon for the stereo.
Its just beyond me how something like this could be overlooked by a manufacturer. That still doesn't cease to amaze me!
This thread's certainly become the "Canadian" forum eh? Cuki's rackin' up the points.

Foolsbrain,
First of all, nice name. Second, I am planning to pay about $1325 per year for insurance. I had a post above concerning that - it's through the APEGGA / Monnex Insurance, which gets very good rates. I am 25, with no accidents/tickets/violations ever (1 claim on vandalism to my windshield), so my insurance has dropped and is now looking nice. I ordered from Stadium Nissan a couple days after Christmas last year, and I just got a phone call five minutes ago letting me know it's here. What a freaking awesome feeling! (I guess it sensed my longing for it, and so it drove itself here, because Pooch did not see it on the CN Rail site)
And this brings up another question - did anyone here get the optional a) rust inhibitor, b) outer sealant (apparently like an extra clear coat or two), c) undercoating package? It was quoted to me at $900, or $300 per option a,b, or c. I do like the idea of rust inhibitor, and maybe undercoating, as I don't plan on storing it all winter (avoiding the bad ice/snow/slush days though)
Good times,
Paul

One more question: I would love to get a film layer put on the front bumper/hood, such as the 3m (can't remember the name of the other make I like now). Anyone in here looked into that/had it done?

Icepig,
Thanks for the reply.
For the 3M clear coat:
3M Trim-Line Calgary
Telephone
403)291-2777
Fax
403)250-3902
#4 3939 12th St. NE
Calgary AB T2E 6R8
Darlene of Trim-Line gave me the following quotes for the 3M clear film:
$225 for just the hood - takes an hour or so
$500 for the front end - takes 6 hours
My personnel choice for the 3 choices would be only rust inhibitor. No undercoat nor outercoat.
Reason:
Rust inhibitor would be short-lived but it should work, however, undercoat would act as cathodic protection and concentrate the rust at the muffler (normally the weakest point) or the missed spot.
Cathodic protection is a process which a sacrifical piece of metal is used to capture the rusting process. This piece of metal is changed out every so often to keep the rest of the body/equipment rust free.
Rust can likely start at a location where undercoating is missed.
If it is the muffler, it is a good case scenario, which you only have to replace the muffler. You will notice your muffler will rust faster than other cars. Muffler operates at higher temperature and normally will burn the undercoat off fairly quickly.
If it is a missed spot, the chance is normal car/under carriage washing will miss the same spot too and you're concentrate the rusting process on a small spot. This is not good. I think Calgary uses salt in the Winter and this would be real bad if the rust process is concentrate at one spot.
Outercoat is similiar to wax and good car of the painted portion. I can have a couple detailing job done for that kind of money. I'll spend the money on a detail job.
Just my two bits.
I ordered mine Z from Fish Creek Nissan, an yet to be opened Nissan dealer in Calgary. It is supposed to be opened the end of the year. However, it has been delayed, I was told, to April next year now.
Please let me know how you're coping with the snow/ice conditions and if you're changing your tire to snow tire and what tire, size and type, that you end up with.
Regards,
Thanks for the reply.
