Default Driving School?

Ever since I've gotten the Z I've considered taking some SCCA/racing/advanced driving courses or maybe grabbing a book on the subject. Ya know, just to get a little more out of it.

Anyone have any recommendations for either driving schools near Philly or books on the topic?

There are tons of driving schools available to you. The main tracks are Pocono (about 1.5 hrs away), Summit Point (about 3 hrs away), Lime Rock (about 3-4 hrs away) and Watkins Glen (about 4-5 hrs away). You can go to these tracks for High Performance Driving Schools with lots of organizations. I instruct for BMWCCA, PCA, Trackmasters and SCDA and recommend all of these organizations but there are also:
Trackquest, PDA, POC, Quattro Club, Ferrari club, Car Guys, the list goes on and on...

If you want a book on driving technique, I recommend Skip Barnber's "Going Faster". It's a very accessible book and covers pretty much everything that the amateur driver needs to know if plenty of detail.

I got hooked once I took my car out on the track. I recently did a private track event at Moroso down in FL and it was 100% addictive. Since it was a private event, the instructor told me I had an equivalent of about 3-4 Club Track days. Well, that said, I just enrolled in Skip Barber 3-Day Racing school at Laguna Seca this upcoming June. Can you believe it, Laguna Seca?! I've driven it on PS2 GT3 and now I'll be driving it for real!

I'm stoked....

Yea..

Skip Barber course typically is $3500, but they have some promo going on till the end of May. If you pay in full before the end of May, they'll cut 20% off the price. That's close to $700 bucks. They probably have this promo all the time so who knows.
