Default Anyone trade-in?

Did anyone trade-in their vehicle when they picked up their Z? I might trade in my car but im worried they will screw me over because they know I have to buy the car. Any experiences?

If you can, try to sell it outright. You'll be able to get more for the car and you won't have to worry about the dealership trying to screw you over (which they will, it's in their blood).

Keep in mind though, you only pay taxes on the balance if you do trade your car in. So depending on what your trading in, it may be easier to trade it in and be done with it. So if your Z costs around 30 grand and your trade in is worth 15 grand, you only pay taxes on the balance, which is 15 grand. Go to Edmunds.com and see what your trade in is worth and go from there....

Apparently that's not the case in Virginia though.

Cool Anyone trade-in?

If you mention Blue-book, they tell you they use NADA.

If you mention NADA, they tell you they use Blue-book.

If you mention both, they tell you they use the 'Auction' book.

Hell, they don't even use vasaline on you.

my advice is go to carmax and get a quote. you don't have to sell it to them, but you can use that as a fall back if the dealer is trying to give you a low price.

I heard carmax is good if you have a nicer trade in (not some 9 year old escort).

My dealer in Tampa is giving me over blue book (Trade) for my 2000 maxima - My CS performance just got ordered, the deal is - I bring in my trade in 40 days and the dealer is giving me a car to drive until my Z shows up - I'm very happy with this deal -

I went to Carmax, they would give me more for my car but then I'd have to rent a car for 2 months plus I lose the sale tax benefit from trading - sorry car max - the dealer beat you out this time -

I can't believe it myself - - I have 40 days to try and sell the car myself for more money - so I'm going to see what happens - nice to know I have the trade-in deal to fall back on.

unfortunatley this does not apply to all states, if it did I think more people would trade in their car... damn sucks to be in VA.
