Pin stripes?
Please don't flame (BTW, I would never post this on zcar.com without a flame retardant suit) but in the crappy fees my dealer stuck me with, I had to pay $300 for the "appearance package" which includes pinstripes. I usually hate pin stripes, and would normally not think of putting them on the Z, but I have to admit they did not look bad on the Maxima. Would anyone here even consider getting pin stripes?
Absolutely, positively, without hesitation.................................................. ............................................................ ............................................................ ........................NO!
I would imidiately draft a contract request that ANY AND ALL decals, pinstriping, dealer advertising be removed or not applied the your car.
You must emphasize that under no circumstances will you accept the vehcile with this.
Just my thoughts

I think I'd pay them $300 not to put the pinstriping on.
That would really ruin the appearance of the car. When's the last time you saw a Porsche or Ferrari with pin stripes? It may look good on some American muscle cars, but definitely not on the Z.

Thanks for everyone's opinion. I think y'all have convinced me (I was strongly leaning against them to begin with). BTW, I really do appreciate the feedback and that it came minus flames (no...are you out of YOUR F&*%IN MIND).
It's not you, it's your DEALER who's out of their f*cking mind. What is this, the 80's?
FWIW, when I saw the title of your post I almost puked all over myself. When I think of pinstripes I just think of my used 1984 Mercury Topaz that had red pinstripes down the side... on a four-door sedan...

There should be a new commandment written that "there shall not EVER be pin strips placed on a Z'car...". They were o.k. when we didn't know any better but we've all learned the errors of our early 80's ways.
Don't tell him that you won't accept it without removal of the pinstripes, he'll say OK, get to the rear of the line and then charge some poor schmoe $2,000.00 over MSRP for the car. Pinstripes, most are only 3M tape, can easily be removed. Just peel at a 90 degree angle, maybe a little hair dryer heat.
A) I think its sick all these packages the dealers are "forcing" the customer to buy. 99% of these packages are worthless garbage meant to pad the dealer's profits, as if $3000 (at MSRP) wasn't enough already!
B) DON'T DO IT! Pinstripes are bogus. $300 for $5 worth of pinstripe tape, and $10 to pay the guy in the service center to install it = another $285 in profit.

Gaddam stinkin %^$#@^#$$@*! car salespeople. I ordered my car from a dealership across the bay from me just because I knew they wouldn't pull any crap like that from a past experience with them. Even though they didnt have a first allocation slot for me at first I stuck with them, I was first in line for after 1st allocation orders. I eventually got 'in' because they got their allocation increased, but either way I was planning on sticking with them.

Depending on the 'Shiftiness' of your specific dealer, they may do any and everything possible to get you to not purchase the car. They know if you refuse the car, they can turn around and sell it 5 minutes later for 10% more than what you were willing to pay for it. My advice to you is just be careful when you try to get out of the 'pin stripe' package or you might find yourself waiting another 3 mos.
