I had a black car, now I have Silverstone and it is much easier to keep clean. This is better for me now since I live in a condo in an urban area and can't wash it as often as I did when I had my old car. I was living in my parent's house then (in the suburbs).

I don't find my Superblack to be that much harder to keep clean. It has a good coat of wax, and if it is a little bit dirty I can sponge of with a microfiber sponge and water, and then dry with a microfiber towel. A california duster comes in handy. If you keep it waxed it is easier to keep it clean. Mine SHINES!!!!

I love SB, but I am afraid that with Seattle's weather I am going to have to get a Silverstone .

Silverstone is gorgeous, man. I went to the dealer today for something else, and they had a liquid aluminum ($1,100 option!!!) and a Silverstone side by side, and quite frankly, for my taste, the Silverstone looked MUCH better - a bit darker and more attractive. Liquid aluminum looked like, well, aluminum.

My first choice was red, but there was only 1 roadster in all of Tampa Bay that Sunday. I know because I drove to all 5 dealers in the area, and the only one that had a 6MT roadster had it in Super Black.

It grew on me FAST.

SB is No problem, my method takes 1 3/4 hours.
Hand Wash with 10 gallons of bottled water (in garage).
Then Blow Dry with back pack leaf blower (fan in garage).
Polish with "Perfect Detail" spray polish w/micro fiber cloths.
(spray on, spread evenly with 1 cloth, gloss shine w/2nd cloth)

Nope - Am Not kidding. My Z has only been washed in bottled spring water since purchase on 03/20/04 (and only caught in a rain storm once so far). No water spots for me! - The 5 gal jugs at BJ's (wharehouse type discount store) only costs $4.60 each, so my in-home garage car wash is only $9.20 twice a week. And before I started using a leaf blower... washing would take 2 hours as I would wash and dry the Z in 3 sections (now I simply wash car all at once, rinse it off, and use a leafblower - just takes 1 hour) - Plus since finding the great spray wax I mentioned by PPC, that turned a 3 hour wax job into a mere 45 minutes. Since I did not mind the 5 hours, I certainly appreciate the 1.75 hours method now!

Thanks, I have heard of it, and other such means as well.
Believe one of our kids uses it (am a 49 years young Z owner).
We also have a house water softner installed, but we still get water spots on our cars when I use the hose to wash. Therefore, I prefer my way with the Z - 100% sure - no water spots - and it sparkles! (after the waxing of course). Luv my Z!

Good call netman.

I wanna try that. I've only water washed the car twice. I have this spray on car wash stuff that wipes off nice and sparkly. Then I wax a few coats with a solid wax. I forgot the name. I go real slow and listen to music, so it takes me a solid 4 hours to do a complete inside / outside detail of my car, including tire waxing and rim cleaning and all.

Time is well spent IMO. My Time mentioned above was only referring to the outside and rims, did not get into inside cleaning/polishing BO leather seats/and other polishing of Z inside! (just wish I did not try armor all on the doors inside...but put more on later...and turned out 'ok').

I loved my old black GTI when it was cleaned and waxed. But the florida rain and HOT,HOT sun aren't the best weather conditions for a black car. Now with my silverstone, it's just fantastic. Unfortunatley, I can't park in the garage anymore because my dad parks his new 745Li in there. Dang it!
