OTD means everything.

So if you get something for 28500 OTD, then you cut a check for 28.5 and you own 100% of your Z.

Or if you're borrowing some then I guess you have that cost to factor in, but you're borrowing the 28.5 and then interest comes off that.

For a new Enthusiast it sounds pretty reasonable.

Where in Louisiana are you?

How is 28,500 even remotely possible out the door?

Invoice for an enthusiast manual is $26,311 + $560 destination is 26,871 and lets say they waive their dealer fees. Tax at 6% 1,612 + tag and title is lets say 200. that totals $28,483. So a manual barebones w/ basically no profit at all except the holdback gives you $28,500, can you tell me who sold you that so I can go buy mine there? I call BS on 28500 otd, unless you fit into one of the following three categories:

1. Buying through VPP program.
2. Buying in a no or extremely low sales tax state.
3. You are getting ripped off somehow on a trade-in, lease, or financing and you aren't mentioning it.

I went to buy an Enthusiast tonight and after 2 hrs we didn't even come close to an agreement. I was asking $28,500 BEFORE dealer fees, tax, tag and title for an Enthusiast Manual w/ all the options but the side airbags and he was nowhere close. That price gets me out the door at $30,750 in Florida.

Tax and tags etc vary so much state by state that I do not think you can include them in your comparison.

I doubt if many people have much of an idea how much they cost outside their immediate area, probably not that clear how much they cost locally.

For what it is worth, the web sites are currently indicating $1,500 off MSRP, so that should be your worst case number.

Do you have a trade in? That can save you a chunk in taxes...

My Enthu had a sticker price of about 30,500. Add on taxes, dealer fees, etc and it would be 32500 or so.

I was OTD at about 29.5

All options is Aero package, splash guards, kick plates, cargo convenience, floor mats and trunk mats. The last is the side airbags and head curtains which I don't want.

I went to maroone kendall and the guy I talked to was clueless. First of all he uses the same nissanusa.com inventory that you can look at to see if he has cars. Then they didn't have any of the 3 cars that I could afford because they were already sold but it took him a phone call in each case to see if they had it. Then he checked other maroone's and the other 3 I knew were acceptable were also sold. So there were no acceptable cars available at their 5 dealerships. He still wanted to sell me a car last night even though there wasn't a car that I wanted or could afford. I told him I absolutely positively had a $32,000 cap out the door on anything I might buy.

He also kept talking about MSRP like it was a great deal. We finally found one that was acceptable and he wanted me to leave a $500 deposit to bring it to their dealership, which I didn't want to do until we had a complete deal on price. So we talked price for a while and it was slow going. First Maroone dealerships have a $500 dealer fee attached on which he claims is impossible to get rid of because it goes to corporate. I told him I don't care where it goes it is still taxed and as far as I'm concerned is part of dealer profit. My parents just bought a new Benz and their dealer fee was $300... I find $500 to be ridiculous.

I'm going into Bill Seidel today and see what's up there. Right now there don't seem to be many Enthusiasts or Bases in stock around Miami, and of course the guy used that to indicate how "hot" the car was. Finally Maroone is one of those dealers that puts about $2k in extra fees next to the sticker like $999 for Availability. They try and make it seem like a great deal when they drop the $1k for availability.

Just to give you an idea... Maroone Miami has 2 coupes (both Tourings), Kendall has 3 coupes (2 touring, 1 perforamnce) and bill siedell has 1 coupe (enthus). I might drive up to Coral Springs to check them out today as well. They seem to have a bigger inventory listed on the site.

Hope that helps.

Is there a maximum IQ to be a Car Dealer?

Reading the above, I think the Post should be changed to "Dumb Dealers". But that has probably been done many times before.

My guess is that 50% plus of all cars brought in by Nissan are Touring spec, that most of the other spec's are more commonly ordered so yes they are going to be few and far between.

Thanks for the reply. I went to the nissan dealer right next to international mall cause they have the only enthusiast around town and let me tell you they're service was terrible. I went in and was ignored by the sales rep. I guess he thought I was under age or something and was there just to daydream or something. Too bad he doesn't know I'm 22, oh well. My friend told me he got good service at maroone kendall. So when ever they have an enthusiast I go to them. If you get a good deal please let us know. Thanks.

You're getting nailed... I got an 04 Track fully-loaded (including NAV) for $34,400 (pre-tax, but including handling & destination). You need to let the dealer know that you know about his profit at MSRP and the extra hold back he gets. You also have to let them know that you don't have to buy a Z... you're also looking at a BMW, an Audi, and an S2000... Learn the art of negotiation.

Ok, Miami report today. I went to Bill Seidell near the international mall and they have 1 CS Enthusiast Auto. its the only Enthusiast I found in 5 dealerships and let me tell you the front bumper already has 4 or 5 chips and scratches on it. The guy would not budge from MSRP after spending an hour there and he let me leave so I doubt he'd have budged in another hour. They had zero other Zs except an '03.

On a whim I drove up to Coral Springs Nissan which has 2 cars listed on the inventories that I'd be interested in. ONe was a CS Enthus Auto fully loaded and a SB Base. When I got there I found the CS auto was sold already and the Base had $6,000 in Nismo mods on it. So after visiting Maroone, Bill Seidell, Esserman and Coral Springs only 1 Enthus or Base was available and it was for MSRP.

The sales guy at Coral Springs was much much better than any of the others I talked to. He actually went to the trouble to find the cars that they were expecting in the next few weeks and found a SB Enthus Manual fully loaded that is coming in next week. he printed the shipping documents, w/ the VIN and the options and w/ the MSRP. He offered it at MSRP and I told him I was looking for a better price and gave him my offer which was 29k. The manager countered at $29,850 and offered to give good financing. I had my own financing ready at 4.49%, which he agreed was low and asked for my FICO score which was 729 average of the 3 agencies. He ran it and it showed 728 and he said he could get me 3.99% if I agreed to at least $29,450. I ran the numbers on my financial caculator and the .5% is worth $350 or so present value so I upped my offer from $29k to $29,300 contingent on him securing 3.99% as a rate for me. They actually got me 3.79% and I paid $29,300 + tax title and tag and fees comes out to $31,800 otd.

Did I get an amazing deal? No. But I paid a tiny bit less than the edmunds price for my car which I consider fair. I also didn't get one ******** line from the dealer. When I whipped out my financial calculator he knew I knew more than he did about numbers and didn't ******** me at all on that. I got a better rate than I had planned. I also got good service because none of the 4 Dade dealers could be bothered to look for cars coming in shortly and were only interested in selling me something on their lot at that moment. Most importantly I got the car that I wanted. Now I just have to wait a week or two for it to come in!

If you are buying a Touring you have a lot more cars to chose from and can get a better deal. Almost all the cars I saw on lots were tourings.
