Default Houston Z owners: when did you take delivery?

I ordered from Tom Peacock Nissan and the salesman has told me that delivery will be on/about October 25th (I received a VIN two weeks ago). I am going to be out of the country from 10/23 - 11/7 on a golfing dream trip to Scotland (yes, I am playing the Old Course!!!!) and England and am wanting to know from those who have taken delivery the actual vs. projected delivery date you were given from the dealer. I've noticed most cars seem to be coming in early, but.. what's the trend in Houston?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

KDsZ

I too ordered from Tom Peacock in September but was given a November/December date. I spoke to the salesman last week and he told me a shipment may be coming in early next week with a car similar to the one I've ordered. I don't have a Vin # yet. E-mail me at kn993714@bcm.tmc.edu because I have some questions.

I ordered from Robbins Nissan, with and expected delivery date 10/28. My salesman said that the cars have been comming in 3-8 days early. He also said that the 10/28 cars were already off the ships when the strike happened, but who knows.

I ordered from Tom Peacock as well Jan. 24. I was initially given an eta of mid July. After the notorious 30 day delay Nissan had due to quality issues, it was changed to sometime in August. Well, August came around and then my eta changed to late Aug.- early Sept. Late Aug came around and then is was updated to late Sept. At this point I starting to get a little pissed. I was given the excuse that majority of the orders were for silver and they were being filled first. I had order Lemans Sunset. I was the 6th order at my dealer. Anyway, so mid Sept comes around and then my salesman tells me that he has my VIN and that per there his delivery schedule printout, my car is scheduled for Oct 2. But, the cars have been showing up a week early. So Oct 2 comes and I call the dealer. My salesman was off so I spoke to another guy. He informed that that my delivery date is for Oct 2002 not Oct 2nd. ****! I should have known. I remember reading about that on this forum. Then he tells me that is may be delayed due to the Longshoreman lockout in Cali. Man oh man, what next. I was beginning to think this was some sort of omen telling not to get the car. So the next day my salesman calls me to give me the official date is Oct 8. Oct 8 comes and goes and nothing. Well, Oct 9 my car shows up on my dealer inventory. I call the dealer and they knew nothing. It was news to them but, the guys sez that it may shows today or tommorrow. He informs me that Nissan was having to load up trucks in the middle of night and sneaking the trucks out of the ports so not to cross the union members picket line. ANYWAY.....I get a call @ work around 3:30pm cdt Wed. Oct 9 from my salesman to tell me that my car had just arrived. So, after months and months of B.S. and delays. I am now the proud owner of my 03 Lemans/Burnt Orange 6MT Touring. Sorry for the long response, but I just wanted to be thorough. Just so you know what you may or may not be in store for.

Thanks for your post and your insight. Sounds like you had a very frustrating situation. Congrats on hanging in there and getting the Z! LeMans Sunset was my initial choice, but I opted for a PPW. Your car looks SWEET!..

So you were the one who got the Brickyard, Randy said it looked good. Did you have Robbins tint your windows by chance?

Was anyone charged a $380 fee from Tom Peacock or another Houston Nissan dealership. They said it was in addition to the $540 destination fee and it was a fee on every car they sell at the dealership.
