Default 2004 or 2004.5

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference between the two, and how will I know which one I've purchased? Thanks.

Yours is an '04.5 I am pretty sure... if these are the last digits of your VIN

T164276

anything that ends in 60000 or higher is an '04.5 if memory serves. Do a search for 2004.5 AND Vin and you'll find the threads that give you the vin numbers.

The only way I know of that you can tell is by the VIN numbers:

2004 Nissan 350Z Coupe/Roadster (Coupe VINs up to D*4T160000,E*4T060000) (Roadster VINs from D*4T102001 to D*4T110000 & from A*4T002001 to A*4T010000)

2004.5 Nissan 350Z Coupe/Roadster (Coupe VINs from D*4T160001, E*4T060001) ( Roadster VINs from D*4T110001, A*4T010001)

Actually there is no Offical 04.5 from nissan,
Thats what people are calling the second batch of 04 Z's
most noticably with the knee pads I believe the suspension has the adjustment that is used to set Z'swith feathering and the ESU set up is different. at least that is what I have heard

While Nissan may not advertise one as such, they certainly make the distinction by offering two different service manuals for the Z. One for 2004 and a different one for 2004.5 models makes it official enough for me.

Roger that

and to answer the original question,

I'd go for 04.5, Nissan must have made improvements.
