Jewel's First Time at a Drag Strip!
Sweet Jesus! I don't think I can stop smiling. Here it is the next morning and I'm still giddy. And to think that I had to be talked into going (D, you are the man!).
Well, I am more than happy with the results. I went in with no expections for the most part. Nissan says 14.1 so in the back of my mind, I thought being that this is my first ever attempt at drag racing, if I could get under 15 I would be happy.
Well kids, my first run was the best!!! I had four runs total last night. Here is the kicker, I had a passenger with me (170lbs) and the spare was still in the back!!! Here you go:
R/T--.754
60--2.044
330--5.943
1/8--9.139
MPH--77.11
1000--11.886
1/4--14.181 (YEAH BABY )
MPH--98.51
And yes, it is repeatable. Here is my last run:
R/T--.661
60--2.146
330--6.047
1/8--9.21
MPH--78.78
1000--11.922
1/4--14.191
MPH--99.56
Definitely need to work on my launches. Too much wheel spin. But hey, I'm thrilled to death with those results. With an experienced driver 13's can definitely be reached!
As a side note, I let D drive the car for 4 runs also. Unfortunately, he forgot to turn the traction control off for 2 of those runs! LOL His 1/4 mile results were 15.135,14.432, 14.535, 14.786. Yes, D, I may have beat you, but you are still a winner!

You rock!! Glad to see us girls know how to run the quarter. Happy to see you had such a great time--I love going to the drag strip, and I can't wait to take my Z (when I get it).
Congrats and keep on kickin' ***!

Congrats! Sounds like you had a lot of fun...that's what it's all about! Those are nice repeatable times...I'm assuming your car is a 6 speed? Apparently, there is a lot you can do with tire pressures, etc. for dropping those times a bit. It looks like some room for a quicker 60ft. too...I really wouldn't know though....I'm more of an autoX/road course guy myself! Where are all of the experienced drag racers with an analysis?

Awesome numbers - and with a passenger! Do you have any tread left on your tires?
I'm still keeping mine below 4000 rpm, but it gets harder every day. I find myself thinking "well, maybe it will be broken in enough at 600 miles" .
Any pix from the track or still looking at cameras?

14.1 with a first time dragger and a 175lb passenger. Thats incredible. I'm wondering what the people who are only pulling 14.4's at the strip are doing wrong. I'd be interested to know the weather conditions........nevertheless this should end the debate about it being a 13 second car.

Not trying to jump down your throat here, but comments like those really irk me.

Thank you, thank you. I guess that makes me a drag queen...wait, that came out wrong!
The temps were in the mid 30s (yep, computer told me it was ICY) and the tire pressures were between 30 and 32. I warmed up the back tires (still stock) before launch.
Thanks girls for the support! It's that Daytona Blue Girl Thing!
J Ritt I've got the Track (6 speed) version. I'm an autoX racer too. Done for the season though. Doing my first official track race in two weeks. Thought I would try to cover all the types of racing before it goes into storage. Yeah, there is plenty of room for improvement. You should try it just for kicks.
Frank, let's get that next event planned! Snow is just around the bend. It would be great to see several Zs dualing it out at the strip!

What does being a woman have to do with it? The only advantage we have is that we're lighter so we don't weigh the car down.

What Im impressed about is that not only did Jewel like to go to the drag strip, which is cool and I love to go there too, but she got good times!

Well I dont want to come across as being biased. Dont take it that way, but to be hoinest, most women I know dont care about drag strips, cars racing etc. and thats acceptable. They are from venus, we are from mars.

I had 1/2 tank of 94 octane gas. Didn't weigh the car. After 8 runs between us, i had just under a 1/4 tank left. Course, I had to drive a little over an hour to get home so technically I had about 2 gallons left! Gas stations just love me.
Barnicleboy-I will give you the benefit of doubt and say that you didn't mean to be short-sighted. Instead, I'll say thank you for the compliment. Yes, most women don't take an interest in cars or racing. But I think a big part of that may be from the prejudice and lack of encouragement from the men. On the flip side, because most men don't expect a good performance from a women, it takes a heck of a lot of pressure off you! If I screw up I can just twirl my hair in my fingers and repeat, "I don't get it." LOL

Great times Joyia, you guys going to Putnam Park for a road race event or a track day thing, also who is putting on the show, I have raced at IRP(great fun track a little bumpy however) with the SCCA but never been to Putnam Park before. I hear it's nice.
