Sorry to hear you're going through with this... Unfortunately, these things happen quite a bit...

I hit a bit chunk of asphalt (about the size of two bricks) about a year ago that bent two of my TE37s, bent my tie rod, LCA, ruined my wheel bearings, and broke my front sway bar mounts. Total cost: $1500. I've also had two tire treads from cars blow off in front of me... first time it was only $1200 damage, the 2nd time it was about $1600. All of this I paid for out of my pocket since USAA would likely drop me if I claimed them...
