Why do you have trace paper visible in your "proof" that you freehanded it?

however, I use it for these 2 reasons:
#1) The drawing is in graphite and ink...graphite smears easily...I use this paper to cover my drawing when not in use...I draw on a 18"x24" paper, and that sheet you see is what I place over my art everytime I leave it.
Check with any artist who works in graphite...this is done quite often to prevent smearing.
But I do use trace paper for other reasons...
#2) Unless you are perfect, Intial drawing (ie. outline and proportions) are almost never done on your final meduim. You sketch, erase, re-sketch etc etc until the car looks right. Then you transfer a very light outline onto your final meduim.
Again, check with an artist who does design work (ie. custom body kits, rims, even custom cars) - I doubt many of them will jump right into it on the final draft paper...
Believe me if you want... doesn't really matter. I'll even let you trace 100% and I doubt you will ever be able to get the shading and overall effect and detail right.

Thanks!

Oh yeah...one more thing... Custom designed body kits and or rims cannot be traced... most of my work is a basic car with my own custom add-ons.

It's used in animation, graphic design, illustration, architectural design, industrial design and areas of engineering, etc., etc., etc. It's really wonderful stuff and beats carrying a light box table around all over the place (though it doesn't replace a light box -another wonderful invention)

I suppose the digital version would be "layers" (see the help in most any photo/design program).

As someone who also does car art as a hobby, I think those drawings are great. When drawing a vehicle the hardest thing for me are the wheels and tires...it appears you don't have that problem
I love the detail in the custom rims on the Z and the brakes. The shading is awesome on that portion creating depth like that is difficult and you can definitely tell your talent in that. So is graphite your favorite medium? I prefer colored pencil, and some watercolor.
