Thumbs up Porsches! No match for the 350Z

Hello!
My redline 350Z have Beat around five 911 Carreras (90-96) and three Boxter S. The thing is that I has invaited to a Porsche Club to show my car, because there are only 10 350Z in the streets and I have friends in the club, and after 35 minutes talking we race, and all the porsches beside me were gone, the only 2 that beat me was 97 and 00 Twin Turbos, all the porsches are in stock engine conditions.

I just have to share this experience to my 350Z friends!

Any similar situations out there?

Thank's

It seems to me you can probably beat a Boxter, but not an S, because I think their 0-60 is like 4.9 seconds? I'm not sure about the 911, but aren't they supposed to be much more powerful than a Boxter? (I'm just going by price here.)

The 911 carreras do aprox. 13.6 to 13.9 at 99 to 102 MPH there are all between the years 90 to 96, I'm not race to a 99+ Carrera but I go for my 350Z all the way. The other things is that 80% of the drivers don't powershift, I Do.

Now that sounds like a true statement.

An '02 C2/C4S will wipe the floor with a 350Z. I love my car and all, but if my wife gave me the green light to spend $80K+, well, let's just say I'd have a shitload of 996 pictures.

I have a few races pending, one of them is with a 00 porsche C4 (tip. trasm.) I go to post a soon I finish. I already race with my friend 360 modena and we go all the way (155mph) the Modena was 5 to 6 cars in front of me. the thing is that I like to race Exotic cars just for the filling of seen this nice machines in action.

P.S. for the info the best imports (Rotary and 4 Cyld. rear drive) are in P.R. and I can guarantee that all the drivers are very good but this fancy drivers are a little conservative. You have to be here to understand this is a very enthusiast island.

what he says is 100% accurate. You are probably just a better driver than those who you raced.

anyway, a WIN IS A WIN.

Still... if you have competent drivers in all cars mentioned and my Z will...

1 - outrun a Boxster
2 - keep pace with a Boxster S
3 - only be a few (1-3) car lengths behind a 911
4 - and get taken to the cleaners by a 911 turbo

then, I'm pretty damn happy. Especially considering I have paid far less than any of the other drivers in question!

I actually kept up with a new 996 Vert. on the freeway at 80+ speeds, and def. suprised him more then a few times (he was behind me, I was playing follow the leader, stuck behind a big rig, around 80MPH, threw it in fourth, rev matched, and took off QUICK. When he caught up, and I slowed down he had a grin that was as big as mine.) I also played with a new C5 Vert, which def. didn't seem as tossable as he lead and followed, but when we went to a stright away and started at 85 to 120 he def. started to walk, but not THAT hard, and I had it in 5th not 4th. Anyway I am VERY impressed with the car, as is everyone else I play with. I love the low end torque, my kinda vehicle.

you are taking for what you read in magazines but in the real life (streets) is a hall new ball game, the Z car can reach more mph depending in what gear you staring to roll and what conditions are both cars in the streets there are no rules and you always have to think first.

This is not my 1st sport car, my last one was a 97 Camaro SS with a procharger on it and few goodies the car run 11.25 @ 125.2 Mph. and I run with cars (Supras, 300TT, Rx-7TT with 600+ RWHP) and always race in low RPM and low gear to do mine can of race and I always beat them.

just my opinion!

140 in 5th gear!
140 in 5th? That doesn't sound right. So 6th is only good for about 17mph?

If you ever top speed the car you notice that the car can go for at least 30 mph more in 6th but the electronic speed limiter stops the car in 155 mph, is not the engine or trasmision is the computer. You can read any magazine that test the top speed of the car (motor trend, R&T, Car and Driver, Ect.)
