Unhappy I swear to god I have the worst luck

Yet another broken Air Walker bumper, this makes #3. Walker Japan really needs to sponsor me, this is getting ****ing expensive

A big @$$ SUV changes lanes infront of me on the way home (going about 80-85, I was going about 75) from work just now and kicks up a shreded 18 wheeler tire, probably about 3/4 of the tire. It hits me directly, cuts the bumper and pulls it off the mounting points, pops off all but one of the plastic tabs where the top of the bumper mounts. No missing pieces of fiberglass ... but there are a few other smaller cracks from the impact around the passenger headlight, wheel well and the base of the bumper.

It should be pretty easy to fix (I hope) since there are no missing pieces, I should be able to do all of the fiberglass work myself, atleast I know what my plans for the weekend are

Pics to come soon.

This is really sux. Sorry to hear this. I know how you felt, b/c I broke my lip too not long ago. I will be getting my new replacement done tomorrow, hopefully I will be able to keep this one for awhile.

Ok some pics.

It looks like the hood and wheels are fine, I couldn't see any scuffs or scratches, but the passenger sideskirt is cracked across the bottom and the plastic clip thing popped out. The headlight has a few scuffs across the bottom, hopefully I can wet-sand and buff these out.

Overall the damage isn't too bad for what happened. If the weather cooperates this weekend and i can get some resin/fiberglass locally for a decent price, i should have the car back in action by the middle of next week if my painter isn't backed up with cars.

im going to fix this one ... then maybe move onto something different in the near future, i've been thinking about completely changing the look. but that all has to wait until i move, if the endless supply of hurricanes would stop! (moving to FL) and save up some money (gotta furnish an entire apt).

Yep, shredded tire in the road is very common and will do some damage at speed. Body shops must scatter the stuff out on the road at night or something. Sorry , but your luck is bound to turn.

i just got the bumper off ... overall im really surprised ... the bumper really isn't damaged that bad. everything should be easily fixable, yay.

however, the passenger side sarona fender is pretty messed up and it didnt even take a direct hit. it's not even close to lining up anymore ... i tried messing with it for 30 minutes and i couldnt get it back to where it was before, i guess ill have to take it off and look at it. i think it's time to go back to the stock fenders ... i just have to find them, haha.

if you have a zero or low deductable on your insurance, they will pay for this. and they cant hold it against you or raise your rates. It is part of their comprehensive coverage. It might be a good idea for those that have a high comprensive deductable to take it down some. I have zero on my comp, and $1000 on collision. If its my fault, I'll pay the price, but if stuff is damaged or stolen and its not my fault, I dont wanna pay.

it's $500 ... but you're right it might be worth changing ...

i bought all the materials to repair all the fiberglass ... it cost me $27. my painter said he'd paint the bumper for $80 ... so ~$100 bucks and a few days, not too bad.

Wow all that from a tire. I had the same thing happen a couple months ago but nothing was damaged as badly as your car Moroccan_Mole. I had a few scratches just outside the clear bra but I bet it would have been worse (if I didn't have the bra on the car).
