Default Going to the track tonight...

Hey guys, Im going out to the track tonight with my bone stock baby, just to see what she runs so I have a compairson for later... But I want to lower my tire pressure just a bit to get some better traction... what do you guys suggest I lower it to? (stock tires) ... about how many seconds, because I dont think im going to have a gauge (i cant find it)... also, any advice before I hit it tonight? ...( Lets just pray it doesnt rain and they cancel the night )

Dude,
Spend 3 bucks at your local wal-mart and buy a tp guage...I think many people run 28-30 at the track.

Oh man... im SOO DISAPPOINTED IN MYSELF... I have let down the Z community!.... best time of the night.... 15.3 bone stock! AHHHH.... My first time to the track, there is always SOMETHING that goes wrong every run! LOL... but, best $10 for entertainment in one night I could have spent!

OH!! And by the way, in my defense, IT WAS HOT OUT THERE (95 degrees) ... My car kept on stalling as I was waiting to get to the strip!! I was scared I did something at first. Has this happend to anyone else? The RPMS just bogg and jump around between 500-1000rpms, then.... just dies. Later I turned on my heat full blast (no ac) and let it run... helped it SO MUCH, it stopped dying and the rpms went back to normal...

Dude, that stalling is NOT normal. I've sat in my car in 95+ degree heat and have never had that issue. Did your water temp guage read high?

Don't worry about your time. There will be other runs.

I think I found the best way to launch. I went to the track and saw a stock 350Z run a 13.8 so I asked him what he did. I tried it, and got a 13.9 which I was happy with considering I couldn't break a 14.1/14.2.

Oh wanna know what it is? Lol, lower the rear tires to 20psi, launch at 3k rpm but don't drop the clutch, just feather it a bit to the point where you try and minimize tire spin as much as possible. Try this next time you go and let me know how it goes.

Its NOT normal??! Ahh! I have NO idea what it could have been then? I mean, I had done like... 2 runs in 1 hour and I was waiting in line to get another run in when it started to jump around then die (like 5 times in 30 minutes) . I figured that it was hot out, and I had just run my car twice pretty hard in the last hour thats why. But now I dont know. I kept opening my hood to make sure nothing was blocking the air flow... left my hood open to try to cool it off. Nothing seemed to be wrong with it. If I take it in, what would I say?

the bad idle is not right. I have run at the drags in 99 degree weather without anything like that happening. I have actually run my air in weather like that for 1/2 hour at idle. tires need to be at lowered to at least 26# hot. Each car is a littlle different so you will need to experiment. It is fun anyway!

nforce - that stalling should not be happening. it could be the thing about the MAF that i believe nissan put a TSB out for.

bluez - what part of FL are you in and what track do you go to. im in gville and have been meaning to go to the track but the weather keeps screwing that up for me.
