I don't know who Robert is, I didn't see the name calling on this thread so I didn't see the whole story. I hope that he would be more civilised when he comes back (if he comes back).
The Miata was a great car in Australia for many years and still is. It is perfect for a girl since its a convertible and looks kind of cute. The S is really expensive for a girl to own (let alone maintain) and the SUPPORT was not that great IMO.
S2Ki = Fanatic, hardcore, BIASED - YES.
S2Ki = Friendly and respectful to other cars - NO.
I've seen the Miata forum, well what can I say, I'm not driving the car. I think I might accidently break it. Holden???

GOuku, The links to the threads you gave were of the street encounters.. I think I can vouch for many s2k members when i say that the street encounters thread is probably the least popular in the s2k community and not representative of what the s2k members stand for..

ALL car forums are biased and talk down on other cars.
Go to S2Ki and ask about the Mustang. Go to SupraForums and ask about the RX-7. Go to RX7Club and ask about the 350Z. Go to Z06Vette and ask about the NSX. Go to I-Club and ask about the S2000.
Try that and I guarantee you'll get all sorts of negative responses, and sometimes misinformation...it's a fact of Internet life.
Btw, I waste a lot of my time surfing various car forums, and I've found S2ki to have some of the more fair and reasonable members. I can't say if this is true for My350Z, because I don't really spend enough time here to tell (I registered back when I was car shopping and considering the 350Z). I think the completely unwarranted animosity between S2000 and 350Z people makes them come down a little harder on each others' cars than usual.

If you don't have something to contribute other than "S2k is a girl's car and is an expensive miata" (not your exact words, but many will take that's what you implied)

Hey I got a question, my 350Z comes in, in about 1 month, but I have not driven in one yet and I wanna know how it compares to competition. Would it beat these cars from like 0-60 or 0-80?

2. M Roadster (z3m3)
3. Honda S2000
4. Camaro Z28

1/4 mile numbers...
1. BMW M3
01+ = No
95+ = Close race
2. M Roadster (z3m3)
01+ = No
before 01 = No
3. Honda S2000
Close race
4. Camaro Z28
No
95+ M3 actually does 0-60 in mid 5's and 1/4 in 14 flat to
low 14's... S2000 is around the same...
pre 01 M roadster is tad faster than 95+ M3s.... (it's got to be..
same engine/tranny but 200lb lighter) I've seen 0-60 in low 5's..
Verify this with your old magazines..
I actually trust mag numbers better than track (drag) or street
race because I am assuming that...
Mags uses better measuring equipments (read G-tech)
Most tests are done at the same place
Most tests are done by the same driver (hopefully)
Anyways, just my opinion... feel to free to just ignore it...

As for a Z, I haven't got one yet. I'm trying to decide between a Z and a G35C. I do have a <a href="http://www.syty.org/">Syclone</a> that gets down a straight line pretty quickly. It might not turn well, but the little black pickup will launch harder than a Z or S2K :P Seriously, I'm not much of a drag racer.
I don't have a problem with other owners posting here (see above), my point was basically though, that I have no say so, and neither does anybody else outside of management here. I do think the ***** measurements going on in this thread are a bit much. Both cars are great for what they are. No reason to get so upset on either side.

Hmmmm being stock is okay....But i can see you guys love your cars...and ya should because Nissan did a great job. But i can tell you guys are going to start to meet up with each other on weekends just like we do with s2000's. After your first meet if ya don't have the modding bug you'll soon get it. Soon you'll be more worried about beating the other 350z owners. In the real world Alot comes down to the drive....2/10' of a quicker shift can lead to over a 1/2 second (three shifts) . Which can be two to three car lentghs.
Hey nice site guys. Anyone in the northern NJ area ...would love to check one of these new 350z's out. Lots of luck. It good to see Nissan back in the game. Now lets see if toyota and mazda can follow up!
Oh by the way the camaros and mustangs on the track are no whales. Check the scca standings for there class......Not bad at all.

I don't know how it works in your community, but in the Z communities that I know we talk about making our cars run great (better sounds, performance, efficiency etc etc), not competing against one another.

Anyway, I do not wish to add fuel to the fire. I hope that the non-Z drivers can treat the Z and VQ engine with the proper respect that it deserves.
