I constantly try and figure mine out, but since I mix so much city driving with freeway driving, it becomes sort of irrelevant.

When I have stayed off the freeway, my best is around 21-22.
It also depends on your driving style.
I don't think I've ever seen 31+ mpg @ 64mph before though....

Last time I was on highway doing about 65, I reset avg. and it said 29. 5.....Needless to say about 5 min later in city driving, I was back to about 16-18........:-).....But the D.T.E. reading has saved me a walk or two.............

I filled up, then right after I started up, I reset the MPG, and got onto the freeway about a mile down the road, then I got those numbers while driving on the freeway, its down to about 24 or 25 now after a couple of days of conservative driving.

Best I have gotten in city/expressway daily driving is 17.2. Most of the time I get 15.8 to 16.6. Highway driving at steady 80mph best was 25.1mpg. The EPA numbers for this car are way off.

hell yeah they are, EPA BS. I think I drive pretty conservativly most of the time, and on average I'm between 20 and 21.

Default 21-22 mpg

I too avg about 21-22 with a mix of city, but mostly highway driving. Infact the first week I had the car I put regular gas by mistake and avg 24, but since.

Do any of you guys think that putting in premium vs reg makes a difference?

I find the car to be within about .3 or so mpg's of my actual readings.

When I get gas I reset the stuff before I crank it up. I reset the trip meter as well. Then divide the gas into the mile at the next fillup. It takes a couple days for the system to balance out. If you wait till you start driving off and then reset stuff, that can throw it off. Try doing it before you start the car... I've been pretty surprised by its accuracy.

Of course I drive the same route to work and back. About 30 miles or so interstate driving, and about 5 or less city. Even in the city it's not much stop and go. I tend to average somewhere around 50 mph.

I get around 17.2 or 17.3, which is lower than I expected, but I drive all stop-and-go city driving. And this is my first manual car, so I'm sure that contributes to it.

The highest I saw was 35.1 mpg cruising at 50mph at 6th gear. (I resetted the MPG while I was doing it and it started from 29mpg and went up to 35.1) Normally, mostly in city driving I average 16-18mpg, sometimes even 13mpg when I drive stupid.
