Raceboy has issued a challenege to all of you with GTA3 (Gran Turismo A-Spec 3, not to be confused with Grand Theft Auto 3)
He recorded a lighting fast race time and has video to prove it, using a Nissan Concept 350Z. He sent me the video, and here it is:
https://my350z.com/video/gt3-1.htm
Might want to download and watch on your own system though.... with more people watching the other videos... the buffering can be a headache.
Anyone think they can record a faster laptime?

You must be able to do better than a 1:39, I haven't played in months and I just popped in the game pulled consistent 1:37s with a best of :
1:36.746 after just my 4th lap.. I am sure this can be brought down to as fast as the 1:34s... I'm working on getting this recorded and put online.

ouch! raceboy will not be happy.
but I think in all fairness it would need to be an unmodified Z.
I think droidekaus was unmodified.
I love GT3, I bought my PS2 just for that game.
But if you have never played Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero on the PS2...go buy it. I think you can pick it up for like $15 or $20...in many ways it is much more enjoyable than GT3.

LOL, I don't know where that 1:39 time came from. My lap in an unmodified Z was a 1:33.118 in that video. The entire video is only 1:35!! I actually was in a GT3 Tournament when the game first debuted. My brother and I still play for hours at a time on my 55" Mitsubishi. I took about 5 laps to do this and I have no dobt I could get into the 32's.

Here is a better time I just set (1:33.057). I am pretty sure I could get into the 1:31's as I was ahead of my ghost image a few times but couldn't get it perfect. Happy hunting!!

Where are you taking off all of that time? In the Andretti hairpin, the corkscrew, or elsewhere?

P.S. You have to use manual shift, IT IS FASTER!! And you need to learn to drive using both analog sticks unless you have a wheel. Left one for steering right one for gas(forward) and brakes (back)There, hope that helps. The only way to truly run fast is with infinite steering, gas, and brake control. I would say I have done 2000 laps on this track in GT3. The key is momentum.
The lap starts at the hairpin leading on to the front straight. Take it in 2nd gear coming in real wide and just clipping the true apex. You need to hit the start finish line going at least 95mph. Come wide over the crest of turn one and set up for the Andretti hairpin, braking here is critical for a good lap speed. Take turn 2 in second gear and don't shift up to 3rd before turn 4 (turn 3 doesn't really count as a turn at all). Make sure you come in wide again with a correct apex. Barely lift through three using throttle to steer car. Shift to third for turn 5 going through the turn full throttle and jumping the curb then drifting all the way to the outside. Stay in 3rd gear at and set up wide for 6. 6 is a late apex turn and extremely importand because it's full throttle from here all the way to the corkscrew. Brake in a straight line. Turn in and shift down to 2nd (I don't care that they tell you to take the turn om 3rd gear) and power out the turn and on up the hill. 7 is pretty easy. A full speed 3rd gear corner, no lifting!! Going up the hill to the corkscrew you should be on the Left side of the tract to make sure you don't hit the outside curb while braking for the Corkscrew. Crest the top of the hill for the CS on the right side. Brake heavily once you have crested the hill and not before. Shift down to 2nd gear and turn in. You should be going pretty slowly and run over the leftside curbing. once you get the car pointed straight down the hill full throttle to set up for Rainey Curve. Rainey curve (turn 9) is almost and early apex left hander taken almost flat in third gear using the trottle to modulate weight on the front tires. You should only lift ever so slightly for this turn. Sweep back across the track setting up for 10. 10 is also an early apex corner, bush the brakes before turning in while in 3rd gear. Shift down to second and redline all the way through the corner, then back to 3rd gear. Now the turn 11 hairpin. Pretty easy to blow a good lap right here. Brake early, apex late taking the corner in second gear making sure to not over or understeer into the dirt on exit. There you have it.

I am just into the 1:34s (1:34.930), its that last turn before the straight that screws me up.. and the turn before you get on the throttle all the way to the corkscrew..
Also, how come droidekaus and I have the Nissan Z concept at 273hp and you have it 269?

GT is weird. They try to do like a fake gentleman's agreement type thing. The screen I am using here is the replay theater screen. You guys are showing the screen in the actual free run mode. The Z has an "official" 269 hp in the game shown on my screen, but in reality it's 273 in the game if that makes any sense at all. Also, as cars get broken in they gain a few ponis in GT3 as well.

I got my Z today, you know that if you give it an oil change before you do anything with the car you get more horsepower. So I did that and guess what the Horsepower is, yup you guessed it (from the post subject), 287HP.....Ironic?
Is this considered a modification? I dont think so since all I did was give it an oil change
Gonna race now, just wanted to share

RADZ, nice try, but you have to use the Arcade Mode car and not one imported from the simulation mode! To get the car available in the arcade mode you have to pass every level. Just using the SIm Mode car, full suspension, better gearing, lighter weight, race tires-basically every mod but HP increases I can turn 1:21's.
