Default First Mustang race...

So I am pulling along out of my college onto a freeway onramp. A A 2003 Mustang GT Convertible w/ exhaust is in front of me, and I pull out behind it, he revs his engine at me and hits his emergency lights. As he pulls onto the freeway while peeling out around a 270 degree bend I pull on him and stay on his ***, I can tell he's trying to go around the turn fast, but man that Mustang handles like *** , or maybe the Z is just too good in the corners . So my girlfriend in the passenger seat is going by now and we're both going straight on the freeway. The Mustang's emergency blinkers turn off and he floors it. I floor it as well and manage to get around the left side of the Mustang and row through several gears to about 110 before letting off after beating him by about 2 car lengths. The Mustang didn't even acknowlege my win and zoomed off.

Does anyone know how fast those 2003 GT mustangs are? It was a 5-spd manual, but it had an exhaust and possibly an intake... I know stock they have 260HP out of that V8...

They run pretty even with Maxima 6-speeds.

With a good driver you can see 13.9's in the coupes, but I am not sure abotu the verts. I know Motor Trend tested one and it ran a 15.3 or something like that, but that had to have been a fluke. I think an intake an exhaust on a mustang is probably good for 20 hp or so, so it may have been a 13 second capacle car.

I'm not trying to be a Dck, but let me climb on my soap-box for a second...please don't street race with a girl (or anyone else) in your car. If you hurt/killed them, you'd regret it every day til you died.

Steps down from said soap-box....good kill!

According to the mags, even the older 320hp Cobras could barely break into the 13's:

Gave the car the benefit of the doubt because of the heat.

Yes, and I'm sure your neighbor can turn 13's on his 3-speed Schwinn, too...

Why are Mustang owners so unable to accurately track time? Must have something to do with all those years of being beaten around by the F-Body crowd...

My god, how many times do you have to explain something to a****** Magazine times are the only thing that are relative because all the cars are run with a full tank of fuel, full interior, spare and tools, passenger seat, and Xlbs ammount of test equipment. It is the only way to get a relative idea of how fast one car really is compared to another. I am sure a well driven Z with no spare, fuel light on, no passenger seat, drag radials, 18lbs of rear air pressure and 40lbs in the front will run 13.7, maybe 13.6, but who cares? You don't drive it configured like that on the street.

Dude, you really shouldn't come to a battle of wit unarmed.

I beat a stock GT coupe by 2 car lengths up to 100 so I know the Z is a bit quicker, mainly off the line in my case. He seemed to stay about 2 car lengths back most of the way up to 100. It may have been driver ability that limited him off the line, not sure. At 80-100, I ever so slightly pulled on the GT. Take it to the corners and the GT might as well be an escort, they have no chance. I think its pretty funny that these GT guys think there stangs are as good as our Z's. The Stang is supposed to be a muscle car but the Z beats it at the only thing its known for which is drag racing!

Just trying to give your obviously lacking confidence a boost man! What are you trying to prove?? That your car is fast in a straight line?? My friend has a Bug that runs 11's. Who f*****g cares? I still don't want to drive a Bug regardless of it's timeslips. I would rather have a 14 sec Mustang than even an 11 second bug, and I would rather have a Z over even a 12sec Mustang. Is any of this making sense to you??

Drag racers drive like they screw: it's all over in 15 seconds or less.
