Question Does your Z ... fart?

Okay, I've noticed this problem with my ’03 Track manual. When I throw it in reverse, sometimes from the forward rock to the reverse motion of the car, it apparently "farts," creating a foul-smelling scent from the exhaust somewhere that seeps inside the cabin. The first time I thought it was a smell from outside the car, but it's happened about four or five times since. There is no audible noise when this happens -- no backfire or anything.

Does anyone else's Z have this problem and is it anything worth being concerned about?

Thanks.

When you smell "rotten egg", that usually means something is wrong with your catalytic converters or something like that.

The reason you smell it when you are going from forward to reverse is you put the exhaust behind you in forward, but when you reverse, you back it it.

Try idling and smelling the back of your car. My friend's Audi did it - it was terrible.

That smell is coming from your catalytic converter. I don't know if that is truly "normal" or not. RSX owners have been complaining about that for years and yet Honda's response has always been "your vehicle is operating as designed". Of course until recently when they came out with a TSB to address the concern. Might not be a bad idea to visit the dealer if it continues to stink up your garage.

Crappy gas full of sulfar is the culprit or possibly poor personal hygiene.

Might be a problem with your rear-end.
