there are some people who still think the G coupe and new Z will get the 3.7 despite the introduction of the VQ35HR

this next one should be good for another 5 or so years.
yeah its hard and expensive to stay on top of having the newest version out there. just think 2010 will be the 40th anniversary im sure they will do something for that aswell

not the 07 its confirmed to have the 3.5 but the door is open for the next gen (most likely sometime in 08) to be something else.
my opinion is the next gen Z might be called just the nissan "Z". the reason i say this is the displacement reference of "350" has been dropped from a lot advertising and the nissan site now refers to it as just the nissan Z.
i think the 450z rumour is out because it would almost step on the toes of the GT-R now badged a nissan also so a 320-330hp more refined 3.5-3.7 V6 in the current price range seems the most logical direction

Yeah, if the car comes out sometime in 08 I would def wait till that time to buy it. I'm sure you've read the article about someone from Nissan saying that they like what Porsche Boxter is doing and they want to move in that direction...?
If there was a 450z it would move out of the price range in which the 350z is now...and I probably wouldn't purchase that as you also have the M3. But I'm hoping that the 08 model will be the next generation model as I can hop on that...
Only thing bad about gettin the first car of a new generation...is the problems.

It has always been refered to as the Z. In the Z32 days, people wouldn't say I have a ZX, it was still just a Z like all other Zs.

Next generation 350z coming out in....
Nissan is expected to bring out the next generation z in 09 or 10. Which will be a yr or two after the release of the gtr.

The introduction of a new engine for the '07 is itself a sign that we won't see the new Z as an '08. My bet is on it being an '09 introduced in fall of '08.
