It’s weight savings being between 300 and 400lbs for the base model. The 3.7's output for this application remains to be seen. I expect it to be the same as the G37's 330 HP. That would be enough to best its two closest competitors and allow for increases over its lifespan.

I sure hope it's true.... but where oh where do people get this data?????
BTW.... just to clarify the competition weights
Cayman = 2998
Cayman S = 2954
My Z4M roady = 3196
the Z4M coupe = 3229
So if the 370Z tips in @ ~3000, it won't be the lightest.... but damn close

I hypothesize that Nissan will put Direct Injection into the next generation VQ37VHR, and along with VVEL (currently in the new G37 coupe), the 370Z's output will be around 350HP, with of course better MPG. If they can keep the weight at roughly 3150-3200lbs, massive brakes, the new Z will be hell of a car.

while this article says nissan will introduce 3 sports cars (the other being a lower level urge) i strongly feel this mule is the 370 Z not a different sports car
here is why first of all its being paced with a Cayman S. the GT-R was paced with the 997 TT. both cars are looking to out do porsche for about half the price.
the calipers are the identical calipers to the G37
the headlights are a clear evolution of the current light, not something remotely close to what was seen on the urge even in a tamed production version
there is also talk of the Z making its debut at the Detroit auto show in jan 08 as the GT-R will steal all the hype at the tokyo show in october

Detroit would make good timing a few months after the GTR is expected to debut.

SCC used a few of these images in their latest issue. I got excited when they were talking 4 liter V6 and the possibility of a V8 and AWD until I read "longer wheelbase" written besides the photos of the obviously shorter wheelbase car we've already seen and analyzed.

Someone write them some hate mail.

The real shame is that Nissan doesn't just take that Gnarly V-8 outta the Titan and cram it under the hood and call it a F'ing Day!
The Name could be something bad *** like "Nissan 380Z Destoyer Of Worlds" (and mustangs) (and most other cars) (except M series Beemers, b/c they are teh Roxor)
hahaha
