If the new Z is a 2010 model expect to see it arriving to dealers early fall of 2009.
The first year of the 350Z was a 2003 model year. They were being delivered to pre order customers and dealers in the fall of 2002.
Paris is doubtful....LA is more certain. Car will start being delivered in the spring of 2009. The 2003 350Z wasn't delivered until the fall of 2002 because there was no previous Z car in production. There will be no 2009 Z.

I can't wait to see it unveiled. That will help my decision on whether or not to splurge for a GT-R.

Speculation is circulating around the automotive media that Nissan is preparing a revised version of the Z-car. According to reports, the 350Z will turn into the 370Z when Nissan updates the sportscar with the 3.7-liter V6 in its recently-revised sibling, the Infiniti G37 coupe. Whether the Japanese automaker will use this opportunity to facelift the model altogether as anticipated remains to be seen.

The reports suggest that the 370Z will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, home turf to Nissan's sister-company Renault, this coming October. That's still months away, so stay tuned for more information.

This was on autoblog.com and has been published in several car mags. And I have heard it thru the grapevine from some friends within Nissan. We'll know what the new Z will look like before it reaches the LA Auto Show. Expect the car to hit dealers early fall as a 2010 model. Maybe late summer.
In 2002 the car was delivered early fall to pre orders. We had a pre production 350Z here in San Antonio in June 2002 that Nissan sent us for our Z Car Convention that year.
We'll just have to wait and see.....

The car will debut in LA and be on sale in the spring. No way Nissan will wait two full years without a new model. The 370Z will be an early 2010 model....no '09.

Arriving to pre orders and dealers in late summer/early fall of 09' as a 2010 model is not two years away.
We'll see in October.

I never said it was two years away......but the fall of 2009 would be two years from the initial release of the 2008.....understand, now? Nissan is not going to wait two years between the release of models.....somewhere on the Nissan News website they also said the car would be released by spring....a bit more reliable than some fan blog.

2008 model year 350Z http://www.nissannews.com/newsrelease.do?id=23&mid=3
So Nissan will not go two model years with out a production Z. There will be plenty of 350Z's available at dealerships to keep them going until summer/fall of 09'. Nissan will also have to give dealerships some time to sell down there Z inventories to prepare for the new Z.
And there is nothing on the Nissan website (that I could find) that said that the Z will be unveiled in LA and not in Paris a month earlier.
No way the new Z will be on sales floors in spring 09'. That's too early. You are talking about a complete model change to go into production. With Nissan unveiling the new Z in fall of 08' don't expect to see the car reaching owners until late summer/early fall 09'.
We'll see how it plays out

Indeed we'll see how it plays out.

You forget though that the PLAN at this point, straight from the mouth of Nissan is to release the Z in the FISCAL 2008 year. That means before the time you have stated and puts a late-winter-through-spring date in the plausible category.

Another reson you cite for the late release of the Z is that it is a new model and the changeover would take time. What you forget is that the Maxima is being released June 2008, as a completely new model, after being unveiled at the NYAS in late March (three-ish months). So your point about the time to transition, while a real factor in operations, has little bearing on the release date being that late.

I'm currently living in Germany and decided to order my second 350Z (sold the first one) through the local military car sales. For those of you who are not familiar with them, they are unlike your typical US dealers. These establishments special order their cars straight from Nissan with a slight redution in MSRP at the expense of the unavailability of some factory options such as Nismo pieces. A 2008 San Marino Blue Enthusiast was my choice and everything seemed to be in order. However, the sales manager from Kaiserslautern informed me that a 2008 model would not be available , but instead he will order a 2009. Normally this would be ideal, but if rumors are true, then I might have a completely different car than what I've ordered. I have no intentions of purchasing the new generation Z just yet, so a refund might be in order (unless if the 2009 turns out to be a Z33 with the VQ37HR). For what it's worth, he'll give me a call once the 2009 model is en route and I'll let you all know if it has a 3.5L or 3.7L engine. I can't wait .

What he said...... We'll see the new car at dealers this spring. Bet on it.

We'll see this fall.
But until Nissan makes a formal statement and promises the car will arrive to dealers in spring 2009 I wouldn't put any $ on it.
There is nothing on the Nissan website that committs to the 370Z arriving to dealers in spring 09'.
