Can the "Z" handle the future competition?
I see the 370z is coming out but will it be able to handle the competition? there's a lot of sports cars coming out with affordable prices, style, mpg, performance, added options, weight, etc..
has anyone seen the hyundai genesis coupe? it's rwd and pushes 300 hp..Hyundai repeatedly stressed that it will be the least expensive 300 horsepower coupe on the planet.

Hyundai is not a proven "player" in this arena.
The Z has been around, tried, and tested.
I really don't think you have anything to worry about.
Just look at the older Z's, and how they still hold up.

i dont see a car that is coming out that will make the z look outdated including the new 370z. the 370z will be more powerful yes but that is what FI is for, yeah hucka baby.

i was researching this today. 300hp is the mark everyone seems to be aiming for. I would like to add to your list the bmw 1 series, 2008 Pontiac G8 GT, and 2009 Ford Focus RS. And thats just me being lazy and not really looking it up. Several cars seem like they will outperform the current Z or at least come really close in a straight line in the upcoming year or two. Corners i am not so sure of. Thing is, a turbo v6 for $30k or less is a really good starting point and we all know that suspension improvements are a lot cheaper than a turbo install (especially done right). Will they beat the new 370z? Well with an estimated $35k base price for the new Z, i think it may not be the best bang for the buck anymore. I have no shame driving a turbo rwd hyundai if it will take an upgrade in boost

I think you may be confused - the Hyundai Coupe is not going to have a turbo V6. It'll be available in a 4-cyl turbo and a naturally aspirated V6.

Good point, my bad.

Bad things can come to FI when tuned to the bleeding edge and when they do go wrong, it can get very expensive. Detonation prevention and heat management are at the heart of any good FI design.

Regardless, the Z will be a force to be reckoned with. Look what the GTR does with MUCH more weight, and lower HP to its competitors. While the Z would not have the AWD, I am sure Nissan has a trick up their sleeves....
