Default Would Nissan ever do an AWD 370Z?

Is there any chance Nissan would make an AWD version of the 370z?

Pretty sure there has never been an AWD Z-car, whereas there have been AWD Skylines [hence the upcoming G37x having it]. So the magic 8 ball says "Outlook not good".

As long as there is a demand, there is a good chance. It's all about profits, no? The BMW 335xi coupe are selling like fresh baked muffins out of mama's oven up here in Canada (and many regions in USA). If Nissan makes an AWD Z, they automatically enter a new market with more potential buyers.

I would too. There was a guy that converted his 350Z into AWD. Everyone loved it, why can't Nissan do the same?

I would get an AWD Z car in a heartbeat. Don't change the looks of the car at all, just add AWD and it would be awesome.

Way to ask a question that in.the.dark is more than likely going chime in to. Due to his infinate wisdom of the 370z, this should be good, he's never wrong you know.

In the history of the Z it has never been AWD, so the odds are slim to none that any other future Z's will come with it, but you never know.

An all wheel drive Z would go against what the Z has always been about. The Z has always been an affordable, entry level sports FR car. Adding AWD would up the price, complexity, and driving feel of the vehicle. Even though AWD would be a big performance boost, rear-wheel drive is the primary format for most sports cars in its class.

You are so sweet. And it's "infinite", as in "in" meaning not, and "finite" meaning limited. Have I confirmed your saying that I'm a know-it-all?

Moving on to the question at hand, you likely won't see an AWD Z, but you can more easily build one yourself than you used to be able to do. You will have to weld in the front subframe from the AWD G and obviously replace a lot of parts. Hopefully the G37X Coupe will come with the 6MT so the parts you need will be readily available. Honestly though, if you are going to sink that much into a new car, and you aren't just trying to prove it can be done (which we already know you can) you might as well get a GTR for the money. There are various other reasons why Nissan woudln't offer an AWD Z, some of which have already been mentioned.

Anyone want to guess if they are going to put active steering on the rear wheels of this Z?

Are there any performance benefits with the addition of AWD?

Absolutely. The added weight is offset by the added traction, the ability to get on the throttle faster and harder leading to higher corner exit speeds. From a drag standpoint, take a look at what a simple AWD system did for the world of DSMs (turbo AWD Eclipse, Talon and Laser), and Evolutions.

Doubt that. the G35x isn't a preformance breaker. I don't think the AWD G37 will be creating new records.

Kinda makes me think of my BMW 335. If you want performance, you get the I (rear wheel drive); If you want a safe grocery getter, you get the XI (AWD). I obviously have the Rear Wheel Drive model.

if Nissan was ever going to do a AWD version of a Z you would think they would have done it by now (they had plenty of chances).
