Default 3256 - 3366 LBS

From my calculations based on known kilogram weights, this will be the weight range starting from a base 6MT to the heaviest 7AT model.

The 7AT appears to weight ~22LBS more than the 6MT. In Japan there appears to be a sport trim and a touring trim (as well as a sport+touring). It appears the sport package weighs about 44LBS and the touring trim also weighs about 44LBS.

Based on all of the speculation from before, I was hoping it to be about 100LBS less, but 3256 isn't that bad for a sports car. It does look like I'll just be picking up a low mileage C6 though since 332HP + 3256LBS isn't going to hit the performance benchmark I'm likely looking for.

My guess is that from an acceleration standpoint it'll just match or edge by the Cayman S which is an impressive feat.

Also, NOTE, I rounded my multiplications, but to be exact, the total weights would be about 6-7 LBS higher, making the range 3262-3372LBS or so. The differences between packages and trannies are still accurate.

that is terrible. I have no idea if your numbers are real or anything as I didn't know weight was published but whatever.

3200lbs+ is ****ing retarded. Nissan can go DIAF.

Weights have been available for nearly a week from this site:
http://370ztech.com/nissan-370z/star...jdm-and-weight

I calculated kilo to pounds by multiplying by 2.2. It should've been 2.204 so my weights may be a few pounds short. I corrected the range in the original post but can't change the title.

Perhaps a moderator can change the title to 3262-3373.

Dude, lighter rims, junking a space saver spare, and an exhaust isn't going to drop 250LBS, sorry. Maybe you can get 100 LBS out of that, but we don't know if the factory exhaust is a pig or not.

Wait for it guys..... Don't get too excited yet...... I think even if Nissan says this is the weight, when actually weighed by the Car mags and forum members, it will be lighter.

True, but it won't be to the tune of 150LBS off. Many people were rumoring 3,100 LBS. I was skeptical on that since the interior has been upgraded and I've never seen Nissan make a light weight car (300ZX = pig, GTR = porky, 350Z = heavy), etc.

However, I will give them credit for improving the car's interior, adding a larger/better engine, whilst keeping the weight down. Obviously it'll significantly outperform the DE Zs and should still be noticeably quicker than the HR Zs. I'm sure with the wheelbase, the handling will be much improved as well.

I agree with you.... Again, I refer to my 09 Nissan Maximi experience. It weighs 3550, but FELTlike 3350. Even if the Z weighs 3350, I bet it FEELS like 3150, especially with the shortened wheelbase.

Default Japanese Weight

Is it possible that the weight may be different in the US due to different vehicle weighing conventions between the countries? For example, laden vs. unladen, full tank of gas vs. half tank of gas vs. dry weight? Does anyone know what a current Z weighs in Japan?

I agree.

But it's kinda' crazy that my car could potentially weigh 200lbs less than a stock touring version.

you and i seem to be having a miscommunication going on here. i meant for it to be 3100 from factory so i could get it to 3000 without having to do much which would be great. as in my 2004 Z with rims/exhaust and spare removed weighs in at 3130. so im just guesstimating around 100 pounds off the car can be easily removed... thats why im not very fond of this new weight ^^

That's definitely heavier than I was hoping.

Doesn't seem like any real weight loss at all.

the Z really didn't need improved handling. it'll be nice, but whatever.

and is the new chassis substantially stiffer? I can take some added weight if the car is stiffer and has more power.

my Z was 3205 or so with spare in it when I got my inspection done.

My '05 Base was 3110 pounds with 1/4 full in tank. If Nissan can't make at least the 370z base model close to that number I say it's a waste of time and R&D!

Here is the current break down for weight of 350z:

Base 3320

Enthusiast 3327

Touring 3376

Grand Touring 3381

NISMO 3353

The wheelbase of 370z is about 99.5", which is 4.6% shorter than 350z. And although more weight is in the front, let's assume it's a lenear reduction, than the new weight of 370z would be:

Base 3167

Enthusiast 3173

Touring 3220

Grand Touring 3225

NISMO 3198

Yeah, it didn't really need any additional power.

And it didn't really need a nicer interior.

Nor a 7 speed auto...

Hell, they should have made it heavier, slower, put in an 8-track player and a 4 speed auto... no, better yet, a 3-on-the-tree...
