Official 370Z specs, with links & new pics - the real thing - 11.15.08
uh wow, you guys call the car a fail because it weighs 3200lbs? Most sports cars today are much heavier than that. Even a corvette is around that weight range. I doubt anyone around here can drive well enough to notice the difference a 100lbs makes.
Also looking at the site, they say starting at 29,930 and 32,930 as shown, the car has the 19 inch Rays so unless the Audio package is really cheap my guess is that the sport package is 3k
Based on previous Nissan pricing, I'd say sport package runs at least $2000+... and NAV package the same.
In fact, this seems reasonable:
Base: $31K
Touring: $34K
Sport: +$2500
Nav: +$2200
Keep in mind, there really isn't a stripper "base" model anymore... the new "base" has more standard features.

And agreed, the base has many more standard features than before (not to mention new engine, etc) and is under $30K. Quite a deal...
No matter if the car fits my needs or not for the money, it's a great deal, imo, and will sell well... economic factors aside. I think Nissan did really well considering the confines they had to work within. There's a lot going on here, a new engine with advanced technology, aluminum hood, doors, hatch, a new platform... etc. And at similar levels to previous pricing. A base model with sport pkg is a killer sports car/tuner bargain.
The reason why people call it FAIL is because Nissan promised smaller car with lighter weight but what we actually get is smaller car with same/heavier weight.
I never expected it to be under 3100lbs like the speculation but this car weights 100lbs more than what I was hoping it to me.

nissan should offer a model without sound deadning, carpet, radio, AC, no power seats, no power windows, smaller battery, more aluminum panels.
and for all the stuff they take away add
More bracing, 2 piece rotors, lightweight flywheel, stock short shifter, coilovers, and other goodies.
sort of what honda did with the Civic Type R and the NSX-R.

Uhh no it's not newbie. What car are you coming from? A civic? If so, then yes it's fine for you. Going from my 350 to a 370 I would not feel a world of a difference.

How does a base 07 weigh more than my car?! Laugh. Also how about add all the weighs for the Touring and GT on there as well.
People have weighed their cars and the weight was very close to the older Zs. Within maybe 40 lb at the most.

This "my car weighed in at ______" method of comparison is just as bad as comparing dyno's from two completely different places.
I'm sure Nissan uses the same method of weighing all their cars.
Wow aren't you all friendly. See my picture above. My NISMO weighs less than your quoted price of a Base. Your numbers are off.

My #'s are from Nissan directly, as their reported curb weight - these are the #s they provide DOT. Curb weight includes all factory supplied accessories (spare, etc) and a full tank of gas. If your car weighed slightly less, that's cool, I'm just telling you what Nissan says, which, when comparing 100% bone stock models of anything, is really all you have to go by unless you've got examples of each model at your disposal at the same time, same scale, etc etc.
07 base weighs less than your car by 13 lbs according to Nissan themselves as I posted above
I can add the tourings too if you like. I didn't add the GT since there really was no prior year equivalent, but I'll list it below. I was just providing the info I have - you can believe it, not believe, question Nissan about it, whatever. The simple fact of the matter is the car has gotten heavier since it was first introduced. Call it minimal, call it significant, call it Kate it just is what it is
03 Touring: 3217
03 Performance: 3239
07 Touring: 3400
07 GT: 3404

a gallon of gas weighs roughly 6 lbs - so half full on a Z means in the area of 9-10 gallons, or 54-60 ish pounds (full tank capacity is 20 gallons for all coupes for all years, convertibles had slightly less)
