Official 370Z specs, with links & new pics - the real thing - 11.15.08
Those who said the GTR was going to be very heavy got flamed.
Those who said the 370Z would have ~330 hp got flamed.
Those who said the 370Z wouldn't be much lighter than the 08's got flamed.
I think a lot of people were just fantasizing what they wanted. Because none of these were a surprise to me or to anyone who were being logical.
Either way, the 370Z is a win. It adds alot more amenities and performance over the 350Z.

The .29 coefficient of drag is FREAKING AWFUL too.
Fail Jimbo! I'd say that Zs are less reliable than Vettes (just by frequenting the forums, more Zs appear to go back for warranty issues than Vettes do). Even my 07 Infiniti G35s which has a similar interior to the new Z shows it's signs of cost cutting on a regular basis. Granted the Vette's interior isn't world-reknowned for being great, it's better than the 03-08 Z's and probably not that much worse than the new one.

At the same time I added Nismo 18" forged wheels with wider 245 and 275 tires front and rear and the new wheels and tires were 33 pounds lighter than my original 17 inch cast wheels with narrower tires.
So this combination of parts saved me over 24 pounds...not bad for bigger brakes, wider tires and wheels...I think the Sports Package is on the same trend as this.
For most, "track hardware" would also include suspension upgrades such as thicker (heavier) anti-roll bars, stiffer springs and track duty shocks, or coilovers, a true BBK (weigh a 14" Stoptech against stock parts, for instance), etc. For instance, the NISMO is basically a track-prepped enthusiast, and weighs ~50 pounds heavier. You made some nice, selective upgrades that were smart choices for weight considerations.
But the 370Z sport pkg already comes with very lightweight 19" forged wheels.
And aluminum calipers.
So not much to lose, there, with aftermarket parts. Or compared to base components, since the rotors are much larger AND thicker. What size were the track brakes you put on?
Plus, the sport pkg adds VLSD...
And front chin/rear hatch spoilers... which add some weight.
The sport pkg could have a net weight gain of ~40 pounds.
And, yes... the sport spare is aluminum... a nice touch.
I think a sport touring will be right around 3300 pounds, about 80 pounds less than a current 350Z Grand Touring, which has similar equipment levels.
So we've got 80-pound lighter car with more power and better handling... an excellent value for sure, but still a little porky for my tastes. Especially compared to a 300+ pound lighter Cayman S.
Tough choice...

yea it sucks that this car doesnt weigh 3100lbs and have 350hp/300tq but honestly if you are buying this car for daily driving or to have some fun on the streets will you even notice the difference? i can understand for those who want to use their car for track purposes and such but i highly doubt thats everyone who's complaining. i'm not complaining about 332hp and 3232lbs, its quite fine with me.
A new Cayman S is almost double the price of what the 370Z will go for, so there really is no comparison. Give Nissan engineers another 25-30 grand to work with on the price of the Z and they could surely drop a 100 or so more lbs off, but could porsche do the same with a 35K Cayman, AND give us 332hp? I think not. Buyers who can plunk down 50-60K on a new car are in a totally different buying bracket than the majority of Z owners.

Porsche makes a huge profit on their cars, in the range of 25-35% according to Forbes magazine, I bet Nissan's margin is much less and their value for the dollar is much better than Porsche IMHO.

FYI, Nissan tried to leave the rear fog from the European market, on for the US version. It came down to the wire, then California did what they always do, and told Nissan they wouldn't allow it (it was too high). Thus we get stuck with the black lens. Not sure if it will be deleted in the future, when they have more time to produce a replacement cover.
IIRC, you can get get this on the Mini Cooper as an option. I really dont see what the big deal is.

come on brian.. u know thats not bad-
well. considering the new accord is 0.26 or something..
0.29 is not bad- remember you also induce drag when trying to reduce rear lift via lip spoiler and under body channels..
that front lip spoiler is def bigger than the 03 track front lip..

But I'm looking at 2 year old Cayman S's... around $40K-$45K... so similar price point. The major depreciation hit has already occured... find a certified used example, and it comes with a 100K mile warranty. Thank you, tanked economy.
This is my first post here I am currently deployed to iraq, and have been looking around here for a while my current ride is 03 Eclipse Gt Spyder looking to upgrade to either 08 350z or 370z. But enough backstory and back on topic I hope this is not a repost for fear of flame lol. But I found these pictures dont know if they have been put up already.

I think we'll here many more stories of people sliding these cars right off the highways when it starts to sprinkle... assuming the thing still rides on bridgestones.
Seeing the 370 specs is disappointing but not surprising; maybe I'll be more impressed when some track times start coming out.

The Veyron's Cd is 0.41 'normally'. With top speed mode enabled, it is 0.36.
I think .29 is rather spectactular, especially when you consider the swept area. The Camry's total drag is still greater than that of the Z.
