I can't speak for the 370Z yet, but based the experiences with the multiple Z's and Vettes I've owned, there really is no comparison. I'll take the Vette any day.

I actually think the new z kills the vette in the aesthetics
department, but the vette would win performance wise. It definitely isnt an easy choice.

Aesthetics are always a very subjective thing, and I do like the new z very much.....but it still doesn't make me want to swap it our for this:

My wife, however, is wanting a sports car, so I might get lucky and end up with both in my garage.

I like the Z but I think I'd pick the C6.... I think the C6 Vette is the only American car I'd consider buying

Not even the same universe compared to GM....and the profit goes to the Japanese economy. You really show your ignorance. You can be pissed at GM hierarchy, but you're punishing the thousands and thousands of employees that will suffer.

If you like the Japanese car better, then fine...buy whatever you want, but don't make your choice about how righteous you are about the GM bosses. What a phony.

Im not saying it is an ugly car by any means, and i have even looked into them myself, however I feel the new z looks much more agressive. Just my opinion. If you could have both, you would have it all. LOL

Of course stock for stock, but Like I always say any car can be as fast as the size of your bank account.

Someone buy a Z51 and a 370Z when it comes out, or buy a GTR or Z06 for the same price. Then tell us which one you prefer. If you care about the economy so much then start your own car company and take minimal profits for yourself. The only economy that should come up when comparing cars is fuel economy. In a comparison thread, I like it best when someone simply chooses a car and tells us why. So I choose the Z51, because I like the performance and the way it looks and I sacrifice nothing. The 370Z is fine, but to me it looks kinda weird.

my boss has a god ugly gold champagne color C5 vette that makes me puke everyday at work. the vette isnt that beautiful of sports car, ive been seeing a lot of chicks driving them lately too.

everyone nowadays has a vette, i honestly see more vettes down here in the south than i see Zs. 80% of them stock driven by douchebags and the other 20% are either Z06s or have some absurb wheels that dont belong on them.

i'll also take the GT-R over the Z06 any day of the week. i know the ZR1 is suppose to be a monster but what about the potential world ending V-spec GT-R?

I think the used c6 would be a better option than the 370 in my personal opinion. You are getting better performance and a lighter car. With all of the employee discounts going on, you might even get lucky and get a new vette in the same price range....

The LS1, LS2 or LS3 can be looked at as engine model changes. The LS3 just came out this past year and does offer more power, 436 hp. The steering and trans have been changed as well in the past year or two. The runs of C-4, C-5 and now the C-6 make changes year to year but may look the same. The C-6, the latest, it a great handling car for a great price but the interior is not great. However, as Jay Leno says " If you want a great looking interior, buy a nice living room set with a great couch". The vette is all about perfomance and for the price it can not be beat. 0-60 in under 4.5 and a 1/4 in the mid 12's with over 27 mpg on the highway for about the same price as a loaded Z. No car is perfect for everyone, It is all about what makes you smile........

I agree with you chuck, there is no reason why I would purchase a 370 over a vette unless I was a die hard Z enthusiast. The only other thing I could think of is numbers. There are far more vette's in my area than Z's and the 370 will be even more rare for at least a year or two.

Anyways, the 2008 LS3 coupe only comes with targa? or is that a separate option?

For some reason, the normal C6 just doesn't do it for me. Now, I've driven the C6 Z06 and that is a different story, and also much more money.

I understand the C6 technically has better specs, but it just doesn't "feel" as much a sports car to me. It feels BIG...although it's not really. My Z when I get in it.. feels small, fits like a glove and to me anyway, seems more responsive to driver input. That's part of what driving is about for me.

I may get hated on for this but the C6 is a cleaner looking sportscar as well as much faster. The 370z is very strange mix of several cars from different decades etc. Not a very harmonious design but it has grown on me especially the rear flanks. I do want one. The car has tons of potential in the looks and performance dept but it will take the aftermarket and alot of dough to bring out the butterfly. But the performance and looks of the C6 is hard to beat between these two. I much prefer the Z06 body to both the C6 and ZR1 and 370z. If I could find a C6 Z06 in the mid 40k range I know what Id buy. Maybe in 20yrs the reg Z will approach the performance numbers the Z06 has now and maybe 5-10yrs before it approaches the C6.
