Default Question for the ladies

Now most of us guys know how we feel about the 370Z but I am curious about how the women (if any, and whom own a 350Z) in this community feel about the 370Z.

Performance-wise, I think it's great, although I notice that torque is basically unchanged from the 350Z (HR), and peak torque is at higher rpm. I like torque, so this does not necessarily please me. The skidpad number is amazing, and much of the credit for that goes to the car, not the tires, since they're the same tires as on the 350Z. Bigger brakes are good, too. Don't know how I feel about the optional SynchroRev Match feature. Probably it would help me, since the Z's transmission/clutch and I aren't always on the best of terms.

Looks: from some angles (see Car and Driver, page 78) I love it. Very smooth, and the rear end looks to be a big improvement over the 350Z. The shot Nissan is using in their print ad (back cover of C&D) is also good. Dead-on from the front.... not so much love. I think the Base wheels look like amazingly cheesey stamped-out metal. The Sport wheels are better, but not much, and I don't want 19s because I live somewhere where all-season tires are pretty much essential, and potholes prevail. A 35-series sidewall is not compatible with either thing.

Colors: haven't seen 'em all yet, but that blue looks dreadful.

I like the fact that Nissan has simplified the trim level lineup. I like the fact that the base MSRP is not that much increased over the 350Z. I like the fact that fuel economy (on the sticker, anyway) is not any worse.

Would I buy one? If I were in the market, starting from scratch, you bet I would. Will I trade my 350Z for one? Nope. I don't need the additional performance features, and I'm ambivalent about the looks. I have to admit, though, it's growing on me.

Why not just rephrase the question to read: Would you date me if I bought a 370Z?

Sorry. Couldn't resist. I tried.

Normal girls don't date guys just because of his car, the ones that do are probably superficial. It helps if you have a nice ride but do you really want that or would you rather want someone likes you for who you are and not what you drive.

Im not sure yet, have not driven it yet, nor have I really been able to look at in person long enough to come up with a conclusion. I will come back and answer once I sit behind the wheel and get a good feel for it.

I think a girl who would date a guy for a $30-40k car is probably going to be in highschool, like a 15 year old girl and that comes along with jail time. Adult girls are going to want something more high end to date you just for your car. Something only wealthy men can afford, like a ferrari, bentley, lamborgini, or in that price range of $150k+. BMW's and regular Mercedes ain't gonna cut it neither.

So, if you're looking for a car that will help you get girls, then reach a little higher.

If you're looking for a car to enjoy in itself, then the 370z will be amazing.

These are all good answers ladies, thank you. I was very curious about what you thought of the car compared to your 350s

All I hear people talk about are the lines of the 370z and the tail lights/headlights/wheels/front heavier lighter but people are not talking about that annoying cross member in the rear being moved to a WAY better position and a glove box in a normal position while the rear one stays giving the car MUCH more room. Also the trim on the dash and things looks better. I love my 350z but I would trade in for the 370z for other things than the looks. It does sort of worry me on the 370z that they expanded the bore and making the cylinder walls thinner while making more power at a still high 7500RPM(at least to me it seems high for the HR motor..seems like it's hurting at that high but still revs fine)

IIRC, the bore stays the same and it's from a longer stroke.

So... could someone potentialls take apart a VQ37HR and use it's internals on a VQ35HR as a "stroker kit"?

I'm quite sure the answer is "no." Remember that the VQ37HR has a very different valvetrain setup than the VQ35HR, and this is bound to affect what goes on in the block.

I saw a 370Z yesterday. Sat in it, played with it... didn't get to drive it, as it was pouring down rain, and since this is the dealership's first 370Z, they were probably not going to let me drive it unless I planned to buy it, which I wasn't.

So. What's my opinion now? It's growing on me -- rapidly. This was a Base, but that's what I drive now, so it's a good comparison.

Powertrain: Again, I haven't driven it, but it sounds fantastic. It's definitely "throatier" than my stock 350Z. As i said before, I'm not sure I like the fact that peak torque (and peak hp, for that matter) come at higher rpm, but since I don't use all of the performance the VQ35HR has, it really doesn't matter. I'm not sure I like the idea of a more complicated valvetrain, as I think the VQ35HR has enough trickeration in that department. Still, I can probably talk the salesman into taking me for a ride when the pavement dries off.

Interior: A big step up from the 350Z. Looks like they actually tried. It looks way more "finished". Since the major structure of the rear brace is now a "rear underbody V-brace" as Nissan calls it, the part that's visible up top is indeed way smaller and takes up far less room than on my car. There may not actually be a huge amount MORE cargo space, but what there is is far more usable. I found the cockpit more "snug" than on the 350Z, but that's not a bad thing at all. The Intelligent Key (and pushbutton start) is cool. The stock audio sounds a little better, and from the very short ride (I was in the car when the salesman backed it into the service bay so we could look at it under drier conditions) I think it's quieter inside than the 350Z.

Exterior: Wow. Still don't like the look from straight on in the front, but the rest of it is fantastic. The lines are smoother, yet the car looks way more aggressive. Much of that is thanks to the wider stance. Unfortunately, the Base wheels are hideous. Also unfortunately, it looks like the front is lower enough that I wouldn't be able to get the thing up on my ramps in order to change the oil.

Value: MSRP to MSRP, Base model to Base model, there's way more value in the 370Z. More engine, more standard equipment.

Overall: I really like it. Will I be trading in? Nope, I like mine plenty well enough, thank you. Anyway, I'd take a bath on trade-in. Still, I think the 370Z is great, and if I were starting fresh looking for a car, I'd buy one in an instant.

did you notice the huge blindspot when you want to look out the rear quarter window. You can at least see through the 350's.

i think the blindspot is about the same as a Z32's. i just adjust the mirrors or speed up then switch. usually the latter.
