Default 2009 370z Touring vs 2008 350z Grand Touring

Hope it's not a repost. I thought I'd do a quick and dirty comparison between the new '09 6 spd Touring and my '08 6 spd Grand Touring. Taken right from the Nissan website.

Why does it say MP3 player is not available for the 350Z? Unless they mean a card based system, then yes. But the 6-disk on the 2006+ Zs can play MP3 CDs with unlimited folder capacity. It also seems like the 08 Zs have a number of features that the 370Z does not have.

Also, I laughed when I read the weight of the 370Z - what BS. But I am impressed that the interior of the car is larger, though. Very cool.

Ya, I the MP3 player must be the card based system. And ya, some standard features in my 08 aren't available in the 09, like heated side mirrors and a remote trunk release (really?). Heated side mirrors don't matter that much for me in Cali - it rarely gets down to freezing. But it might make a little difference for those in colder climates. But I'd love to have the auto on/off headlights. That's one convenience I had with my Murano that I miss. It's just killing me to have to lift my arm to turn on/off my stupid lights.

Yeah, I had that on my 2001 Maxima and it was great. Had it on the 2005 FX, and now have it on the Audi. Sucks not having it in the Z, because if I leave from a very well lit area, I forget to turn my lights on. Thankfully it's only happened twice and I was fortunate enough to realize it as soon as I hit the roads, but still...it's a great feature. Should be standard on all cars, imo.

Interesting post thanks. I have a 370 and I simply cannot fathom why there are no heated mirrors! I live in the foggy Willamette Valley and this is a must, especially with the large blind spot this car has.

The lack of a fuel door opener also sucks, here in Orygun we are too retarded to pump our own gas so we have to hire "highly trained" illiterate high school drop outs on meth to pump it for us. Now each time I will have to get out of the car and monitor their activites to make sure they don't screw up the paint.

It should be noted that with the $3000 sport kit option the 370 would nearly the same price as the old model with some superior tires, brakes etc.

Nissan ALWAYS takes out really nice features when they redesign cars and bring them back during the refresh. For example, 1995-1999 Maximas allowed you to roll down the windows with the key fob. In 2000 and 2001, that feature was gone, only to reappear for 2002-2003. I hate that crap.

Yeah I had to double take when I saw the weight of the 370z. Every mag out there has reported weights of over 3300lbs for the base + sport. What makes them think we are going to believe a touring is lighter.

The Base alone weighed in at 3300lbs. Edmunds and C&D weighed their Base + Sports at 3370lbs. Touring + Sports + Automatic is said to weigh over 3450lbs (the 7AT adds 40lbs).

Front head room, front leg room, and trunk space is wrong cuz I sat in one myself. Definitely no head room compared to my 350, not much leg room either especially on the passenger side, and trunk space is smaller because they cut it by 2 inches even though they moved the strut bar in the front. I can still fit two large luggages in my Z, not so sure I can do that with the 370

Overall better in person, but i felt too cramped in 370

well so far nissan hasnt been very good with the 350z and 370z weights.

the base model has not been weighed however. the larger wheels, rotors, calipers, LSD, synchro rev, spoiler that could all add 100lbs.

so until somone weighs the base model nissan may be right on.

but i doubt it.

but WTF NO HEATED MIRRORS???!?!?!

Nice to see they included auto lights in the refresh.. Still no dimming side mirrors.. I don't think they have included this in the Infiniti line, at least not last time I checked..

Still curious as to why the '08 Tourings didn't come with an Aux input. Hell, even the POS Rogue they gave me to drive while my car was in the shop had one of those.
