Heavier, yes, but for all street intents and purposes, they might as well be equal.

As for torque. The torque in the 370Z's HR is 2 greater than that in the HR 350Z. So again, no real significant difference there, either.

 

^^ Every test I have seen showed the TQ in the 220s for the 370z while the TQ for the HR 350Z is in the 230s. The same dyno tests.

What you laughing about? A vendor here even said on his dyno there was only a 15 rwhp difference. I was close. Some dynos and some cars are only 10, some are 25.

Just wait a few years and I'm sure the VQ37VHR will get a bump in power just like the VQ35DE did when Nissan made the HR version. Whether it be by FI or other means, I'm speculating it's gonna happen to keep enthusiasts from ripping each other's throats out arguing over why the Z33 with the HR engine is better than the Z34, and vice versa.

 

That seems inaccurate...I've seen two different 370Zs run about 280whp stock, and that is only with 12% SAE correction. I don't know why those ran so low. And the increase seems a little off too.

 

All dynos are different. All cars are different.

Thought I add a little to the discussion.

As far as the quote goes, not necessarily an increase would seem off. The 370z is still not direct injected in terms of fuel, I think. Correct me if am wrong.

When they do this, the car's engine may see a bump in compression ratio along with it.

I think it is also worth mentioning that the new Z has variable valve timing on intake valves and variable lift, similar to VTEC and VVTL-i systems on 2ZZ-GE engines. That alone makes it a whole new animal in my view. Maybe that is why we are seeing better modding responses.

That's not knowable because we don't have a baseline for the car when it was stock. SOME cars dyno 254. Although, it is probably still likely to have close to that.

Sharif uses a Dyno Dynamics dyno uncorrected that has been proven on multiple cars to read at least 10% lower than STD Dynojet readings. Sometimes more than that, depending on atmospheric conditions since Sharif does not employ any corrections, at all.

That 290 whp is going to be closer to 320 to the wheels on a dynojet. Impressive. I would like to see a 1/4 mile trap speed for that car.

a VQ35DE car is quite a bit lighter than the 370z. Just to clarify that point too.
