Nismo 370z vs. 370z SP Touring
So what is the point of a Nismo? Those numbers don't make sense.

Because the Nismo version is $1000 cheaper than the standard 370Z....

14 hp more is not very much (especially since less restrictive exhaust has proven to add about that much power to the wheels on the 370z)... perhaps the aero package adds some weight, it is 6 inches longer overall. What I do like about the nismo 370z is that spoiler. I have been saying for years that the Z needs a Porsche GT2ish spoiler. Finally someone listened.
I would opt for a base Z with sport package. Save myself 7 grand

It's not slower. Those differences are merely statistical noise. I'm sure the Nismo probably hasn't been broken in, yet either. VQs get quicker with age.

Wow thats really is surprising.
But like any track car where it really counts is how many seconds it can shave off lap times.
I think when track tests are done you will find the Nismo much more stable through long sweeping turns and such. Espeically since the areo kit doesnt come into play until 75 mph the testing done for the braking and Slolomn are both performed at speeds < 75 mph
On the other side of the spectrum, if the Nismo fails to deliver, maybe nissan will upgrade the hell out of it until it blows the standard Z out of the water for the 2010 model.
Nissan has always been noted for having problems in their first year of production for most of their cars.

That just doesn't compute. I agree that when the engine gets broken in a bit more it will get a bit faster, but how the handling can be that much worse is beyond reason. A .91 skidpad? That's significantly worse than any review I've seen. On paper the 18 hp upgrade outweighs the slight weight gain over base, but in this test the heavier Touring with less HP is faster. Defies the laws of physics. Maybe the driver let his kid drive the NISMO.
