This will probably happen in Japan, probably never in the U.S.

I think if they develop this it will be packaged to sell globally. Nissan must stay lean. In the past they offered many engine choices depending on the market it was going too but that was when there was more money going around. I don't see something like the SR20DET/KA situation happening again.

That would be awesome.

Maybe in a few years we get the current GTRs motor? and the GTR gets a V8 Twin Turbo?

How ironic in light of one Z car pundit predicting that Nissan will release a 370Z hybrid next year.

This is something I hadn't read before:

"Though given numerous awards in the 3.5-liter VQ35 trim, its recently released VQ37HR engine, found in the 370Z and Infiniti G37 models, has been hammered in the automotive press for perceived coarseness and vibration at high RPM."

That and the fact that there are several other manufacturers putting out turbo charged engines may be enough to get the Z out with a T-kit. Hopefully on the next gen Z when they have more freedom to design around the power plant and refine the car even more.

The hybrid thing was a stupid person misinterpreting a vehicle code, manual or something. This supposedly is from an interview.

I doubt a factory FI'd Z in the near future... but this might be enough for me to keep my 03 a year or so longer.

There is a 2.5liter VQHR designed by nissan. I can see nissan makeing a small bore TT V6, but I doubt it will happen. It will crouch on GTR territory, and cost too much. The mass produced VQ37HR already pushed the car up into the 30k territory.

Nissan has a huge turbo past, they know what they are doing...
If they do decide to come out with another turbo line with Garrett like they used to have I will be very excited...

A turbo Z, even a nice sized single in a 3.0 VQ would be AWESOME

It wont, I see it starting at 35K. Nissan has learned that mass production is the way to go. The VG30DETT was its own special motor back in the 90s though they did have other VG derived 3.0's they didnt share the similarities that today's VQ engines do. As a result, the cost will be significantly less. Boy if this is true, I cant wait.

Thanks for the useless history lesson...Don't assume we're all clueless regarding the history of previous Z's

$35k eh? That's cheaper than the current 370 touring (sport pkg) and the Nismo.. Not to mention, that if Nissan really does make the car. It's going to be at least 6 years down the road.. Ya know...Prices go up with each generation not down.

I understand that but I meant the entry pricing overall. Remember entry price on the 370Z is still sub 30K, so I do know what Im talking about, I wasnt trying to "school" you, just giving my .02 . . . thats all. A Nismo 370 is still sub 40K as well, I couldnt see an entry level next gen Z costing more than a high line Nismo current gen model. The 350Z entry price was around 26K, the current 370Z is sub 30K, so I actually went up 5K for the next gen model. I know I make some sense.

HR sounds better. The 3.7 sounds like it has a coke can rattling around inside it.
