I useto have a 2003 track model with a bunch of n/a bolt ons and weight reduction. The car ran 13.3 @ 103 at the quarter mile.

I pulled up in my 350z to the Dealership and test drove a 6 speed 370z.

Interior, definately an overall improvement. I agree with another member when they say they got rid of the digital display with speed and replaced it with a shitty clock. Other than that it gives you a completely different feel inside the cockpit. When i stepped back into my 350z it felt empty , cheap , old,and plain. But after a day i got back useto the cool style of the 350 interior.

Handling of the 370z was "DD" worthy, It had a more street friendly feel. Steering response was always one of my favorite aspects of the 350z, and in the 370z it was even better. Suspension wasn't as tight which is how i like it, but I can see why they softened it up compared to an 03 track.

Torque was definately improved. in the 370z. Under 2000 rpms, a tap of the gas and it pulled. I did a couple WOT pulls, from 0 to about the middle of 3rd gear. It had almost no wheel sping when i slammed 2nd gear, my 350 would be almost uncontrollable and lots of wheel spin if i did it. It didn't throw you back in the seat as much as the 350z did. It was of course faster because it is a faster car but it didn't feel as fast. The power came on smoother and less noticable. The price of the 370 isn't low enough to justify it being a better car just yet

As hard as i try....i just cant......im 6 ft 215lbs....and 70 years old....my 03 is easy to get in and out.......i test drove the 370.....about break my neck getting in and out....head room at the door sux......to me the 370 was a big dissapointment in the way it felt driving compared to my 03 touring.......i like fast and easy to drive cars.....i was an nhra super stock driver in the 60.s...68 cobra jet....next to the early big block fords ive had vettes and my fav fast street car was a 94 sl600.......when i sold the 600 i thot the s2000 would be a neat summer fun car........the same dealer sold nissan.....saw the z and that was it ...i was hooked......black with 19" black powder coated 09 g35 wheels.....borla.....jwt clutch and flyweel after the stocker went out after 10k.....dealer wudnt do anything for me on that one......oh well.....finally dumped my winter 99 jimmy for a 2010 360 nissan rogue......what a surprising crossover to drive....very quick ....and very quiet and sticks like glue on ice and snow...for a 4 banger a real surprise......i think the secret is how they mounted the engine .....all in gell filled rubber donuts.......so now i have 2 nissans in the garage ....both black.....summer and winter......life is great.

I think the look of the new Z is going to get dated much faster. It's kinda tacky looking and not classic like the 350z which still looks great and will for years yet.

Also, if your tall...like 6ft+, you will NOT fit in this car...period.

I disagree. Like many others, you are blinded by your 350z loyalty. IMO the 350z looks very dated when compared to the 370z.

That's an interesting comment. Sounds like what the owners of prior generations of Zs said about the 350Z when it first came out. I own both a 350Z and a 370Z and I think the 370Z has much more of the classic lines of Zs past than the 350Z does. Only time will tell though whether the 370Z will age well.

I agree with your last comment though. Headroom is not so good in the 370Z. I can barely get my helment on in my 350Z when I autocross it. I'm not sure I can even wear it in the 370Z.

I was one of those 350 drivers who also said the 370 didn't quite feel as fast or torquee despite knowing the numbers. I even had this discussion with my sales person on the test drive(he looked at me like I was crazy, but if you drove a 350 you know what I'm talking about). It just didn't feel that way, but in the end I bought it anyway. I love the new look and the interior speaks for itself. The 370 really doesn't come to life until you put the hammer down past 4k which was not the case in the 350. The 350 seemed to always be alive and pull harder on lower end and flattened out up top. It wasn't until I broke my 370 in when I realized how much quicker and better this car really is.

So if your going to test drive one, hopefully your salesperson will let you open it up, otherwise you will be disappointed.

Let me clarify a little. I agree that the 370Z sitting beside a 350Z makes the 350Z look "dated", but dated only as in older in design and lines simply b/c the 370Z is a snazzier (for lack of a better word) design.

However, it is that snazziness of certain features (the rear lights with the zigzag look like they could be off a cheap Tiburon or Celica or something...and I can't see them looking good for years) that I think they overdid and will not holdup as long.

Kind of like the Nissan Altima's started the whole silver circle rear reflector trend and now its already outdated.

Again, the main issue is the car is WAY too small inside in the driver's seat.

Having lived with one of each for a daily driver, I can say that the 370 would be my choice. The 350 was great, but less "refined." The two things I don't like about the 370 (so far) - headroom at the door and I miss my freakin' speedo on top of the dash.

I cannot get into the 370 without scraping my head (I'm 6ft.) - the 350 was no sweat.

Put the d@mn clock on the radio and give me back the digital speedo in the center dash cluster.

I'm a big fan of the digital speedometer as well. I also liked it being intergrated with the trip computer and the overall location in the 350Z. Nissan definitely messed that up in the 370Z. I also miss the glasses holder from the 350Z in the 370Z.

I test drove the a new 370Z base model at one of the dealers on Oahu this weekend. I notice Z's are always nicer in person. The obvious difference is everything inside the car is cushy feeling. Lots of soft cushy panels lining the insides. Makes it a little classier I guess.

The sound of the engine when starting the car was very nice. A nice growl to it. The drive was casual, so I couldn't compare power and handling to a 350Z. The feeling of the clutch was identical to my car when I bought it. Catch point high and fairly grippy. Other than the obvious differences (interior and exterior), the drive seemed just like test driving a 350Z.

Overall, the 370Z is a nice upgrade to the 350Z as far as styling goes. Didn't want to create another thread just for my input.

The 350Z has established itself as a classic. It does not look like any other car and that is a big part of why it will continue to be seen as a classic. The 370Z is a hybrid of sorts (part 240/part 350). It will never be a classic (not that it's all that important but it is a distinction the 350Z can rightly claim).

The next big splash Nissan will make is if and when they design a brand new Z that, like the 350, stands on its own. That's the next Z I will buy.

The 350Z has only been around for 7 yrs and can hardly be considered a classic. However, i do suspect it will continue to be popular for many yrs to come. The 370 will take it's place in Z history as well. The 370Z is so damn sexy even in stock form. With time you will start to see more and more tricked out 370s on the road and those models [imo] will overshadow the 350 platform.

I understand your point. By classic, I'm using the term much in the same way as you might for the original Mustang or Camaro. There have been many versions to follow but the originals are essentially the flagship so to speak. The 240Z, the 300Z, and the 350Z, although they are all Z cars they are each in a class by themselves. But I doubt the 370Z will enjoy the same sort of standout reputation as time passes but that's admittedly yet to be seen. It's just my strong hunch.
