Default 370z vs my 08 350z

On Feb. 6 & 10th 2010, I took my new 08 350z to Palm Beach Int. Raceway for some 1/4 time runs. The first 3 runs my clutch stuck to the floor & I was not able to shift to 2nd gear. The next few runs I was ok & was able to complete the 1/4 mile. My times were 13.195/103.31mph to a high of 13.5/102mph. Pure stock! only M/T drag radials were added. Stock 370z's sport & Nismos seem to due only 13.5 to 14 seconds. P.S the nismo beside rating of 350hp, also have wider tires than my M/T radials. It seems to me that either I'm a great driver, or the 370s just a bit of a disappointment

You do realize that besides some type of FI, nitrous, etc; the best bang for the buck mod you can do to improve your 1/4 mile time is by adding dr's...

You car is NOT pure stock.

If dr's stand for my tires, then I'm NOT pure stock. Still, the 370z Nismo has more rubber/350hp/HP/nismo exhaust ++++. I checked out the 370 before buying my 350. I didn't care for the ride/int. comfort & the engine seemed to work hard for more rpm & power. Also the articles on oil overheating is never a good thing for the engine. After reading about the new tech that moves the valves, I felt more compfortable with the traditional twin cam per side set up. This spring, my black on black z will be at Island & Raceway park N.J.

Welcome.

Forum rule #1: Its cool to tute your horn without belittling others.

Drag radials are one hell of a mod. Probably THE most significant drag racing mod.

Nice driving. Post your time here: https://my350z.com/forum/drag/233840...ons-stock.html

Again. There is no need to belittle the 370Z. One, 350Z vs 370Z is a well covered subject. Two, it gets you no where.

I know it's common nature for you to want to justify your purchase, but trust me and the thousands of other people who have posted on this subject - the 350 is not faster than the 370.

I justified buying a 350 before buying one. First I wanted a 09 370. After driving one, 1) I noticed a ruff ride on normal streets. 2) Comfort was not great. 3) The engine sounded noisy & seemed to work hard at high rpm. 4) Didn't feel faster than my 04 350. 5) Later I read about oil getting hot(not a good). 5) First year of new valve movement tech. 6) Read mag. road tests which showed same times as 07/08 350's. 7) Never saw one at the track in 09. -not even on the street. 8) In Jan. 2010 saw an 08 on cars.com for sale with 2k on it. Black 6sp. enthusiast for 22k in mint/showroom condition. I bought it, & I'm 100% happy with my decision. I'm going to put 3:90 gears plus some changes to the exhaust (NOT touching intake) I should be turning 12's this spring. I want a complete streetable car. No turbos for me!!!! Which one is faster? Lets go to the track & see for ourselves.

Also, even though the Nismo 370Z has more horsepower, I would think with the areo dynamics it would have more drag as well.

This makes it better around turns, but penalizes it in the straights
