Oh for pities sake, anyone who knows Val, or has been here longer than 5 minutes know that his car is set up for show. A setup that has served him well in that particular forum for years, with multiple trophies and honors from competitions.

The problem with this competition, is some of our feircest guys don't go to them. We have plenty of people who do drag, track, drift, show and are quite accomplished. People get butthurt because they try to make their cars an extension of their penors. Having said that, our cars are fun, which is why you get guys like Val taking part just for the fun of it. I can almost understand being upset with a car you love not being repped the way you feel it should be, but don't come here slinging insults, get your car out there and do it yourself.

As for our members here, we're like any community that has a large amount of individuals. The personalities run the gambit. We are the largest Z forum out there for a reason. Hate on it if you want, it might not be the best for everyone, but plenty people enjoy their time here.

Meh its whatever, I find it very entertaining that hella people are coming up saying "why didnt this guy go, or this guy, bla bla bla"

When i called the guy for the show to put myself up as a competitor they were only ready to pick from me and i think like 2 other people untill Vo decided to show up. Unfortunately from the sound of it, Vo had the slowest car out of everyone they had to pick. I was just hoping that the outcome would have been a bit more positive, but it was pretty much already a given that the mustang had the upper hand right from the get go...

Vo: Did you ever call any vendors to try to get some sponsorships? I had a couple lined up that were going to hook it up with wheels, lsd, and possibly a reflash and more...Dont really know ALL the mods you have but it could have given you an upper hand, i dont remember you mentioning anything about sponsorships (hence why i asked, but coulda shoulda woulda, bla bla bal lol)...

Not trying to rag on you by anymeans btw, i am happy you went and got to experience it. Not really a big deal if you win or loose, so who cares lol...It must have been a blast though

 

VO you did your best and I applaud you for it. Also props to the mustang driver. Pretty good outing in Autocross and salom for your first time!

I think we should have a list of designated people/drivers from the forum that we can draw from for next time. The criteria for being on the list should be moderate to intermediate skill levels unless a higher level driver is needed.

I think we should totally go over to the stang forums and "politely" ask for a rematch/grudge match. With equally matched cars and drivers. We could put on the production ourselves and get a 3rd party to edit the footage so that everything is fair.

I think that is reasonable. I am willing to donate time and money to make it happen.

wow im pissed that you guys picked a show car to represent the forum! i push my car harder driving to starbucks.
"i babied it" why!? shouldve never signed up to embarrass all 350z owners and there supposed hot cars. my silverado runs a 15.5 quarter. and ive driven new mustangs, it is impossible to lose a slolum race to one in a 350z, the car is 3 feet longer 800lbs heavier with a solid rear.

if we dont have someone that has tracked their car to race then we dont have anyone to race. PERIOD. asshats go on national television and falsly make the z look that bad should be slapped. MHO im sure anyone that doesnt drive their z like a ***** thinks the same.

next time, royal purple, pick someone that has posted quarter mile times, AND some track experience come on. a base 2003 350z non nismo against a non base (v6) 2012 GT at the guys local track yeah thats fair. shows how good your company is if you cant pay one of the thousands of 370z owners to play.
your events could do really well if you didnt F them up everytime. EVEN cars.

This is something I can almost agree upon. Still, the rest you have to say is pretty insulting. Read my last post in this thread. Next time, if you think you're up to it, why don't you rep us. Perhaps the issue isnt with who attempts to get on the show, but with how they choose the participants.

This thread is close to being closed. The person everyone here is slamming is a mod. A very thick skinned one at that, but you and others are towing the line with the insults. Calm it down.

 

I really wish they would have posted our best runs for each event. Val didn't run 16s but on one junk pass that he pretty much redlighted/bogged on. All of his other runs were ATLEAST 2 seconds quicker; he was portrayed to be horrible at it but he really wasn't. I ran a 12.22 in the 1/4 that didn't get posted (I was proud of that! haha) as well as a 7.7 in the slalom

It isn't Royal Purple that is at fault with the lack of times being posted; it was the production company. Royal Purple just happened to be the sponsor of the event and seem to be catching the bad rap for it.

Have you taken time to even read the thread and posts after the event? This has been discussed multiple times.

I'm not sure what the track being my hometown track has to do with the 2 events that I had never done (slalom/autocross). Honestly I can say I KNEW 100% that I had the drag portion in the bag as I had ran a 11.88 just a few weeks prior to the event when launching HARD on some slicks....but the other two events scared me and the times ended up being close!

 

I am always game to hang out with some other car enthusiasts and spend some time at a track. I would like to take another shot at autocross as it was a thrill.

I know we have a few Houston area guys on Stangnet that I am sure wouldn't mind meeting up as well. I know that Winters97gt is interested in running Old School once he gets that turbo Z worked out; can't wait to see that happen if it goes down.

 

I'm always down to hang as well. I think it can be a friendly gentlemanly rival between our forums. As long as see keep immature people from tainting the rivalry. Also you're right the production company is to blame. Its okay though they prefaced in the beginning Vo was bringing a knife to a gun fight. Kind of setting the tone.

I think you will do well in autox with more seat time. Your stang is a pretty damn good handler as well. I look forward to seeing what comes of this rivalry.
