Default Maxima is 4DR Version of 370Z?

Nissan has a TV ad out showing a guy stretch his 370Z into a Maxima when his wife tells him they're going to have a baby.

Say it ain't so.

P.S. Glad I'm single.

Nissan markets the Maxima as a 4 door sports car, so the ad reinforces that theme. When a family changes, they would like to keep you in a Nissan, and they are saying they have a product that would appease the wife and the husband in this case. Porsche has had similar campaigns with the Cayenne

The CVT is killer for the newer Maximas but they're pretty nice cars.

Til it needs work/full replacement... it'll be interesting to see the life of those CVT's

For a 4 door the Maxima is a pretty fun car to drive.

370Z is RWD and the Maxima is FWD. So the Maxima is no 4-door Z in my book.

A 4-door G37 is arguably a 4-door 370Z however.

The license plate on my G35 Supercoupe used to read, "4 SEAT Z"

I have always liked the maxima. However when they finally replaced the manual option with the cvt, all the desire of owning one went out the door.

CVT's have been around for quite a while and I've never heard of issues with them. Is there something special about the Maxima's CVT that I'm unaware of?

There's nothing special about the Maxima's CVT. At our dealership I've only seen one go bad, and that was user error. I'd say they're pretty bulletproof.

My optimal garage would include a 350Z and a new Maxima, no 370.

Had our murano for quit a while and never had no problem with your cvt tranny at all. nissan extended the warranty on the drive train to like 125k miles also from the 60k due to people concerned with replacement cost.

At least heritage-wise, the maxima has been "the four door Z" for a long time.

The maxima used/shared the Z engine for at least 20-30 years. The old Z used the same chassis as the maxima. They were both were RWD for a bit. Of course they aren't the same car, but traditionally it's an ok statement.

The Mid 90's model actually had a "4DSC" Decal on the rear quarter panel windows.
