Default OT: Bicycle racks

I wasn't sure where to place this question in the forum so if this has a better location the Admin can move it.

Does anyone have a bicycle rack that works well with the ZR? I have a mountain bike I would like to haul around a little and what I had won't work on the Z. It would also be nice if the new rack would work on my wife's S60 Volvo.

Thanks

Did you ever find a rack for your ZR? I ask, becasue I am in the same boat and I am looking for a rack for my 2004 ZR.

Can you share what you found?

No, unfortunately I have not. I have contacted Yakima, Thule & a few others & no luck at all. I have read some posts about adding a trailer hitch to the Z & then there would be any number of racks that I could choose from. Unfortunately there is no easy solution for adding a trailer hitch on a Z.

Lets keep in touch. If I come up with a solution I'll email you & you likewise.

Thanks.

Scott,

I just ordered the Delta Cycle "Hunch" rack. They show it on their web site on the back of a Miata. I should get late next week. I will let you know how it preforms.

Thank you. I will be interested in how well it works.

I did go to their website, but it didn't say too much.

Don't know how much weight your moutain bike, but honnestly, I did'nt put the Delta rack on my ZR with a moutain bike. First off all, you will scratch your paint with the time and that's for sure. You can take all protection you one, it will append one day. Also, you put all the weight of your bike on the trunk and on the 2 pivot, so honnestly, not a good idea.

The best way it's the get the hitch. I know it's hard to find, but ask Nissan and they will told you if you can get a hitch. If not, forget your ZR to have fun with bike.

I already work 9 years in a bike shop, so I sold A LOT of bike rack and mostly every one who have a roaster have this problem.

Sorry.

I forget to told you, if big brand like thule and yakima have nothing for ZR, it's because they have reason. It's possible that the rear bumper is not enough strong and will bend with the time.

Look the chart of the Delta to see if they tested on a ZR, what I'm pretty sure they didn't.

I run a Hunch rack on my coupe without any scratching or movement issues.

Best of both world, drive a sports car AND carry your MTB (Cannondale 1FG Singlespeed) with ya!

That's my personnal opinion, but the rack look really cheap. Btw, I think honnestly if you want to do bike, take your other car because I'm sur that more then 95% of people here have 2 cars.

That was my decision after looking at the options ... use the other car!
