Default 2005 350ZR Sat Wiring Harness

I am about to take delivery of a 2005 350 ZR. It does not have Sat. radio installed, but the head unit is Sat capable. I plan to install an OEM Sat unit that I will likely purchase from Grubbs Infinity. Does anyone out there know where the Sat Harness conector is located on the Z Roadster?

Cheers

I would guess behind the radio. Most of the times it is an additional connection in the back.

Not 100% sure. You could always just ask the service dept.

Are all 05's with the Bose equipped with Sirius ready, if I buy the kit?

Kinda confused what I need. I want the OEM look as well.

My roadster is equipped with the Bose in-dash cd changer. The Radio button on the head unit allows you to cycle through AM-FM-SAT as input sources. (The standard AM FM CD player is not SAT capable) By adding an OEM receiver and antennae I will be able to use my head unit controls, pre-sets and display for the Sat. radio.

I did a similar install on my '03 Murano, but it lacked the SAT prewire kit so I had to purchase the wiring harness as well.

I wanted to know the location of the SAT connector in the ZR so that I could check if it came prewired or if I needed to purchase the harness for it as well. My dealer is no help. (I am located in Canada. Because SAT radio operation is technically offside our Broadcast Act, the dealers here will not give out any info on SAT radio and in fact will tell you that Canadian Nissans are not SAT ready, which is simply not true). I guess I'll just download the factory service manual and see if that has the info that I need.

Cheers.

Where does the factory put the SAT antenna for roadsters? I put mine above the windshield and ran the wire through the weather stripping. Best place I could find that's not inside the vehicle.

I didn't know SAT was an option for the roadsters at all. Typically, with a factory SAT, you will plug the receiver into the back of the deck, and find wherever they ran the wires for the antenae. You should just dump the whole BOSE system though and get all aftermarket. I have my sirius antenae mounted on rear decklid. I get great reception and you can't see it with the top on.

The harness wasn't installed in the 2004.5.

You need an easy to make harness to runfrom the back of the head unit to the spot behind the passenger seat. An auxiliary cable harness then runs from that location to the rear of the car.

I hope that you can get the necessary harnesses. Check out a wrecked Z to get the harness - the coupe harness should work in the roadster. They just didn't install it.

Check it out before you buy it.

BTW - I ran for 2 weeks with the antenna from my pnp just sitting on the seat. Great reception. Of course, every turn caused it to get thrown around the car.

I have an '05 Roadster with the six CD Bose system. When I cycle through the "radio" button I get FM1, FM2 and AM. I do not see a reference to SAT.

Can I assume that my system is not SAT ready at all? That there is not any plug in the back of the unit to connect a SAT receiver?

From what I can tell, there is no SAT hookup on the Roadster. The owner's manual says that it's not available on the Roadster. If anyone figures out a way to hook SAT up to the factory Bose (without one of those aftermarket screens sitting on the side), I'd love to know about it.

Don't waste your money with the stealership. Just go get it at a stereo shop.

I would say that Nissan is providing misinformation. From my research, the only reason the Roadster model is not SAT capable is simply because it does not have the SAT prewire harness that connects the head unit to the receiver. If you have a Bose 6CD changer head unit, it is SAT capable provided you install the necessary prewire harness.

The situation with the Roadster is similar to Nissan's line on its Canadian models. I have an 03 Murano and one of my partners has an 05 G35. Both have head units that are SAT capable, yet Nissan Canada's line was that you could not install SAT in either. In fact all they were missing was the Prewire harness. We now both have SAT and our dealers are asking for details on how we accomplished it.

I have a Sirius receiver, prewire harness and jumper harness for my Roadster being shipped to me from Grubbs Infinti as we speak. Last time I checked with the UPS tracking site it had reached Minnesota. I expect that I will have it by Thursday of next week. Once it is installed I will post an update to this forum.

I've gotta say that after listening to SAT in my Murano all winter, the FM in the Roadster simply sucks!

Cheers

You could also use the PAC AAI-NIS to add two additional inputs (Sat,iPod, MP3).
When you cycle through the Bose it'll show 2 additional inputs.

Red face Sat. Radio in a Z

I have an 04' Roadster with the 6 disc Bose system and just installed a Sirius unit in it.

Contrary to what you may be hearing on this forum, the 2004 or 2005 Roadster or Coupe Bose head unit WILL NOT accept the Sirius Satellite signal directly. You MUST use an interface (PAC AAI-NIS) and you MUST purchase a Sirius receiver and cradle. If you don't want to have the Sirius receiver to deal with in your Z then "Too Bad, So Sad", go out and buy a satellite ready head unit and activate it through Sirius @ $12.95 a month. If you don't have navigation in your Z, I can tell you a neat way to fit it in your navigation compartment. I went on this forum for at least 2 weeks to try and get some ACCURATE advice from the members on how to fit a Sirius Sportster unit into a Z navigation compartment and what do you know........not one person had any idea. Sorry if I seem frustrated but everyone seems to be able to tell you what to buy and how cool it is but when you ask HOW they did it, they seem to disappear off of the planet.

Let me make sure I understand this...

You CAN get SAT, but you have to buy the PAC AAI and then you have to buy a separate interface unit, i.e., the Bose isn't truly SAT ready, so you have to add the SAT tuner?

The PAC AAI info on the website talks about an iPod interface. Anyone know how it works? Or rather, how to install/use an iPod through the stock Bose?

What brand of Sirius receiver were you trying to install? Nissan OEM or some other make?

I just ripped my dash apart to install the PAC-AAINIS and found that my 04 Roadster was pre-wired for sattelite. There was a harness connected to the sattelite position in the back of the Bose that I had to unplug in order to install the PAC.

Thats incredible.

I have always heard that they didn't install the harness for the satellite receiver in the roadster.
