Traded in the 350Z for a 2006 M3 Coupe!
As many of you know I had my 350ZR for sale for a few months and finally decided that what I wanted was a new M3. I got $31,000 trade in for it. I guess I am lucky being the fact that I work for the US Government on an airbase in Germany. Yesterday, August 9th 2005 I ordered a 2006 BMW M3 and got $4800 off MSRP. This is unheard of back in the states. Not to mention I don't have to pay taxes or gas guzzler since I am considered a diplomat. I'm not military but I work as a govt contractor so I get all the benefits. Only trade off is that I have to own the car for 6 months before I can sell it. Of course that's not going to happen as this has been my dream car for quite some time.

Despite what you may think but traveling at 130+ mph in a convertible is not quite as comfortable as you may think. Yes, I could put the top up but then that defeats the purpose of having a convertible on a nice sunny day. Yes, I could slow down but that is actually more of a hassle because on the autobahn the right lane is used for slower traffic that generally drives at <= 80 mph while the left lane moves at > 100 mph. The wind noise is pretty substantial at 110+ and at 130+ i feel like the top of my head is being smacked by a rolled up newspaper. But I digress, the 350ZR is an awesome machine and perfect in many ways just not great for the autobahn in my humble opinion. If I had a coupe I don't think I would even be considering the M3.
Anyways this is probably my last post (not that I posted much) and I wish you all the best of luck. Cheers mates!

Not my M3 but it will look identical.

Congrats on the purchase.

i miss it already.... it was a great car and i can only hope that i made a "wise" decision. The 350z was extremely uber rare - only saw 1/2 dozen of them in germany. Probably has to do with the fact that they are nearly 45% more expensive here!!

really the deal i got is too good to be true but it is... only because they allow us contractors (the smart guys
) to have the same "rights" per say as the regular substantially lower paid military folk is a blessing. thanks for the warm comments netko
Good luck with it, i recently got to drive an 05 smg m3. All i can say is wow, the car is just amazing in ways the z could never be " i own a 2004 liquid aluminum touring". I was also shocked how well the 6 spd semi auto trans worked.

Congrats on the M. I also have the best of both worlds. The Mrs. pushes the Z and I got the M3. Two sports cars with completely different personalities. Love them both! I would not get any Audi over the M3 ever.
