Default Best deal on an '05 Touring ZR

Hi all, I came upon this forum while doing research on the Z. Lot's of good info here! Anyway, here's the deal. I live in SO FL and got quoted from a dealer $ 34500 for an '05 touring zr mt. Can I do better? I know I will pay more for an '06, but i won't feel like I'm missing out on the latest goodies. I was considering leasing since I'm a pilot and only home about 12 days/mo, so most of my driving is purely for fun. It's really a toss up between the Z and an S2000. The Z to me seems like more of an everyday car than the Honda, it is quite a bit more $$ though. Thanks for your inputs.

I got mine 04' ZR touring for $38500 otd purchase. So you got a great deal if it is otd price. ZR is much better simply becos s2k is outdated.

I think I can offer you a more subjective opinion on this since I used to own an s2000 and have drove quite a few 350's.

If your driving is for pure enjoyment, I would say go with the s2000. It's the most fun you can have for about $30K and nothing can touch it short of an Elise or Ferrari!

The 350Z roadster is a beautiful car, more luxurious, and definitely more spacious for 2 people. I guess it also depends on your size. I'm 6'2 and fit nicely in the s2000 but ONLY in the driver seat. The s2000 passenger seat is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller!

Just imagine a go-kart in a life size car and you get the s2000. I've gotten more comments in the s2000 than in any other car I've owned or drove...even my highly modified m3!~

MSRP is 39 K. I test drove the touring auto today and really liked it. Definetely more room all around than the S2000. I think this will be a better all-around car. I will test drive one with MT tomorrow. Handling was superb, the exhaust note is awsome. I didnt find the blind spots bad at all with top down, gotta use the side mirrors. What I'm trying to decide is to either go with an '05, get it cheaper but miss out on the new goodies of the '06. Also, being that an '05 will be in a way "outdated" now, will this affect the depreciation of the '05?

$34,500 is about 88 percent of the MSRP. If this is the Z that you want, offer $33,930. Let us know if the dealer accepts your offer.

Sorry for all the questions, but in going through the forum i noticed all the problems with the trannies the Z is having. Does it apply to the ZR as well? I'm talking 30 + posts on people on their 2nd or 3rd replacement. Can I expect less hassles going with an automatic?

i'm in the same situation as learman. not sure if best to get the 05 touring or 06 touring. i got a quote for 05 touring (34,911 auto). the 06 (36,480 auto). i think i will most likely take the 06 because for only 1.5k more you get the LED lights, new front bumpers, nicer wheels and volume controls on the steering. The inside is a wee bit nicer as well with the new aluminum (or fake aluminum plastic whichever) trims. not to mention you will have the latest and greatest on the streets. thats just my 2cents.

I paid 34,500 for my 05 touring ZR in June. You should be able to get a better price now. Lowball the dealer, he is dying to get that 05 off his lot. Check the mileage and factory date on the door. No tranny problems yet. The torque on the Z just kills s2000.
