OK, once you have read above. Let's get into details. How could or where would we mount the V1 unit in a roadster to have the external display integrated into the mirror? On the coupe they have it somewhat above the rear strut brace almost where the rear glass reaches the roof.
I know we have some creative Roadster owners. 1000's of minds are better than one. Let's focus people.

I have seen this setup before. I am doing something similar for my A/F gauge.
Are you trying to make the V1 invisible to the police (i.e. is it legal for you to use radar.)?
Could you mount this on a visor or snug it on the dash between the windshield and the gauge pod? I am assuming you are trying to make this as invisible as possible and have a clean look correct? I am not familiar with the V1 does it have remote sensors or is the box the main sensor and needs to be in the line of sight for the detector to work properly?

The problem with your proposal is that the V1 doesn't have remote sensor modules, hence if the rear is out of site then the V1 isn't going to provide very good rear protection. Those who have been to jail know how important it is to have top notch rear protection.
Right now I have the custom mounting bracket setup from MIKE3348. Now given the circumstances, IMO this is the cleanest setup for a Roadster where stealth is not important.
OK, so our first suggestion is on the dash close to the gauge cluster. Anybody else have something creative?

I'm guessing you would have to remove the interal components of the V1 and take the whole dash appart to get at the inside of those pod gauges.
All I can say is wow.

I have Greg's V1 mirror install (thanks Greg!) and I love it. Of course, I have a coupe so I'm not going to be much help in specifics.
I can say though that in my research I saw LOTS of the BMW guys (who can simply buy one of these mirrors as an option) mount the V1 inside the roof, or inside a cubby. If there isn't a lot of material between the V1 and the airspace, and nothing between it is metal or more than a few inches thick, then the performance degradation should only be at the absolute limits of the range. Otherwise the V1 seems to be powerful enough to be completely concealed.
I had thought of mounting it where the sunglass cup is. I think that would work in a coupe. But in a vert I agree it will be tougher.
I have heard of folks taking the V1 out of it's case and cannibalising it into a front and rear remote mounted unit. You've got some cahoneys on you do to do that though!
Good luck
