Default concerns of my rpm guage

I purchased my 2007 grand touring roadster 4 months ago, and pleased with looks and performance. I recently have seen my rpm guage sticking or not indicating the correct rpms.I will take this to my dealership, but havent seen this ailment on other threads, am I the only one out there with this problem?

Its possible sure. I assure you that you are not the only person to have problems with the tachometer.

Chances are that you won't be able to recreate it at the dealer who therefore won't do anything about it. Ask me how I know. It occcurs when the sun is directly behind you. The next time that it happens, put your hand over the tach to block the sun and it should return to normal.

Interestin! So the heat makes the plasitc or whatever expand a bit so the needle sticks?

I would bet that there is some sort of optical sensor in the tach that is being interfered with by bright sunlight.

Thanks for the unusual tip, funny though it did occur during the hotest part of the day. I cant recall if the sun was bearing down on it,now I will take notice.Unfortunately I live near Seattle and will have to wait 6 months for the heat to come back.

I've had the same experience and only when the top is down and there's been directl sunlight on the tach. Definitely unnerving the first few times. Now it's just an annoyance.

Yeah, I've read about this being an issue before, and it's happened to me a couple times too. Not really a big deal.

Yeah I made a thread about this a month ago or so... I have the same problem and seems to only occur when sunlight is directly on the revcounter. It does come back but can happen more than once during a drive too.

So this seems to be a problem among multiple years too...

Oh well its not a huge deal.
