Well I don't let it slam, I stop it just before it hit, pull the handle down and then let is finish. it doesn't it as hard and just push back the handle for a prefect fit.

I do something similar. Although I'm sure it doesn't do much damage, it just doesn't feel right....

When I open mine... when the front portion lifts up... i hold the clip down so that it will release without that loud "click" you hear if you don't touch it. When the top closes..I also pull down that clip so there wouldn't be that loud "bang" noise. I don't pull it down..but just only the clip down.

Yes, I do that as soon as I can reach the handle... being 6'2", well you get the idea . And BTW the owner before me didn't do that and she #!#@ up the roof switch so now roof indicator is always on... Planning to get it repair, but I have to leave the Z at the dealer for a day for them fix it.

Too bad Nissan had to make it so complex. The S2000 was so simple compared to this. But I do love the power ton. cover. The S only had a cloth type cover you had to put on. The Z has been my favorite over the S and the TT VR-4.
